I decided to try Vonage after a friend said she loved hers. I knew it was not going to be as good as hers since she has cable internet and I have satellite service. I tested my upload and download transmissions prior to trying Vonage and those were in the acceptable to good range. However, when the phone modem was actually in use, it was terrible. I could hear what other people said but everyone told me that my transmission was constantly dropping out so approximately every other word was lost. I gave up on Vonage. So if you have a solid broadband connection, it probably will be fine but if you have satellite you are better off with regular phone service.
Thanks for the comment. I have Satellite Internet as well (HuhgesNet) and was looking to replace my no feature and expensive land line with Internet phone. Good thing I read your review. I don't think I will give up my Satellite Internet just yet, it's working well for the rural area that I live in and it's been working great so far. www.infodish.com.
Even if you have a solid broadband connection, vanage is sucks. They charge lots of thing when you want to disconnect. Vonage is worst phone service I've ever used!!!!
