A quick comparison of our AcuraMDX & LexusR330 to the Volvo XC90

On a recent trip to North Carolina, we jumped at the chance to rent the Volvo XC90 for a 120 mile drive from Charlotte to Asheville.  Having driven our Acura MDX and Lexus RX330 I will have to say that I was quite impressed with the Volvo.  It handled very nicely.  The acceleration was as good or better than the Lexus or Acura and the handling was tight and responsive.  At cruising speeds of 80+ it handled quietly and very smooth.  It felt like more of a true German built luxury car to me than either the Lexus or Acura.

Over the summer I decided to trade in my Volvo S60 for the Volvo XC90. I need more room than the S60 had to offer. I have a 2 year old son and needless to say he comes with a lot of stuff. Between the stroller and the diaper bag I needed more space.

I had been eyeing the XC90 for years and this gave me the perfect excuse to get it. I even traded my other car in early because I wanted it so badly.

I do like my new XC90. It is so much more roomier than the S60. Since I only have one child it is perfect. It comes with a 3rd row but I don't need it yet so I put it down. It is great because it lays... read full review »

aside from the cost-overpriced-but safe, safe, safe, and great for the car pooling family of 3 plus kids.  once kids get over elementry school age, you'll need something bigger though.  very comfortable ride.  husband made me buy this over the honda pilot because of ride.
