We recently got our Volkswagon Jetta sportwagon TDI after a 5 month wait. It was reasonably priced, and the "green" credits were great - no sales tax, and the federal tax credit will be applied. We have has a few glitches with the electronic system - the touchscreen Nav/entertainment system froze, and a few of the engine warning lights have been lighting up here and there. VW has been great though about resolving these issues. We have a family of five, and while it is a bit tight in the backseat with two car seats and a 14 year old boy, it works out. I love the gas mileage - though diesel gas can be a bit troublesome - we've gone to some stations and the diesel pumps are old and don't necessarily fit our car. Otherwise, the low emissions or "carbon-neutral" aspect makes me feel good and my husband is very happy with the "peppiness" of the performance. Definitely recommend, though I think the dealers need to do a better job of explaining "ultra-low sulfur diesel" and being aware of what can and cannot be done to the Jetta TDI.
