Those pesky Germans are at it again.  Volkswagen has taken a huge step in the up-market automobile teritory with the release of the Passat CC.  While it shares virtually nothing with the Passat, it does keep the name.  I, for one, thought that was a bad idea as it really is quite a large leap from the Passat to the CC.  At first glance you might think this car is a Mercedes Benz.  It does borrow quite a few lines and creases from them, however it is much less expensive than the E class.  The flowing design makes the car seem like it is moving even when it is parked.  That design carries over into the cabin.  Once inside, you are comforted by the rich details in the seats and dashboard.  This is almost more Audi than Audi.  I wonder if the CC may steer some people away from its sister brand?  Either way, its a win I guess.

Driving the CC is a true pleasure.  Crisp handleing and almost no noise inside the cabin rewards the driver and passengers.  This is what you expect from an up-market sports sedan.  The sunroof is monsterous and gives the sedan a great view of the sky.  Two engine choices are available.  The most common one is the 2.0 Turbo which is in the GTI and A4.  The larger and more powerfull V6 requires all wheel drive.  Personaly, The 2.0 Turbo has plenty of power and gets much better fuel economy when compared to the V6.  The V6 all wheel drive CC jumps the price well into the mid 30's.  At this point many other sports sedan cars come into play and the CC loses its edge.  If you don't go too crazy with options, you can have a nice German car for about 28K.

Other little things that I enjoyed on this car are as follows:  Heated and cooled seats,  excellent standard sound system, and lane assist.  Other little things that nagged me:  Poor review vision due to the sloping roofline.  Lack of headroom in the rear for taller passengers.  Smaller than average trunk space in this class of cars.  Shorter warrenty when compared to other German brands.

All that being said, I would reccomend taking a look at this new car.  VW spent quite a lot of time and effort to make the CC a true alternative to much more expensive German cars.
