Hello all! I'm here talking about our Volkswagen Jetta 2001 TDI (Turbo Diesel Injected).
Okay.. so here's a review for all the wives whose husbands are trying to conserve fuel. Many people are talking about going with hybrids. What about a diesel?
The Volkswagen Jetta TDI is quite fuel efficient.. we get 45-50mpg. Right now were paying about the same for premium gasoline. The diesel is more fuel efficient than most hybrid cars out there.
Hybrid cars use a large number of batteries and a gasoline motor. Which overtime can be a bit costly to maintain.
Diesel engines last for a very long time. We have 265,000 miles on our Jetta and its still going strong.
Volkswagens are also very comfortable cars to drive in.
Some people complain about the smell of a diesel. Just sit behind a bus, and take in the odor of diesel burning. While diesels do have a specific odor, the Jetta is not a bus. The only time we smell the diesel is on start up or if were stuck at a light for too long. But it really isn't that bad, definitely not as bad as a bus.
Some complain of the odor from pumping the diesel. Just as gasoline can get on hands, diesel can also. This is always fixed by either wearing gloves, washing the hands after pumping, or simply using some hand sanitizer. Its not a big deal!
You can get diesels in the Toureg, Passat, Jetta, Golf, Beatle and Rabbit models in the United States.
Whatever your taste and amount of money, a Volkswagen Diesel fueled car is a very wise and enjoyable choice!
