Not a very good digital camera

1

When I bought this digital camera, it seemed as if it had good qualities, but it didn't in the end and I ended up wasting my money. The pictures ended up being grainy. I took a picture of bats for a homework assignment using the camera and I couldn't even tell what it was until the prints from the photo store came out! If you take pictures in a well-lit area using the camera, it will appear a little bit grainy, but the resolution isn't 100% sharp and clear as most other digital cameras would because the camera only has 5 megapixels. Also, when I used the camera feature, the sound isn't recorded as well! You can only view it on the camera. When I tried to upload it on the computer, it wouldn't play. Also, I never spilled anything or dropped my camera and I always kept it in a cool place, but 3 months later, it stopped working overall! I double-checked the batteries and I even put in new ones to see if that was the problem but it stopped working! This isn't a good camera and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

not a great camera

I purchased this Vivitar VIvicam 5024 camera about 18 months ago and used it rarely. I never was very good about taking pictures - or doing anything with them! Lately I've been taking pictures of my baby with my phone, and while the pictures turn out ok, the speed is irritating so I dug out this camera. While taking pictures it appeared as though I'd get much better photos with this. After putting the pics on my computer, however, I was sadly disappointed. Almost everything was blurry. I messed with the settings and got them to the "anti-shake" and "sports" settings, presumably what you would use for action photos. The only pics that turned out were the ones of my stoic son standing perfectly still. There seems no hope of capturing my crawling daughter with this. I guess if you like photographing still life, this camera will work well. If you want to capture anything that moves, try another one. Pros: Super easy if you want to just point and shoot without adjusting anything. Cons: Poor picture quality, touch screen zoom is impossible to use in the middle of a continuous shoot, to take memory card out you have to remove battery (then put everything back, try to turn it on, realize you put the battery in backwards, and start over...), "touch screen" is a misnomer - you don't actually touch the screen, you have an area to touch to select options.

Hey Everybody, Do some research on the company of Vivitar before you buy into the idea that they're the same as any old technology company. They seem to be a glorified knockoff brand. Their website offers no driver support for ANY of their products, so if you scratch that disc they send you with their product, good luck ever getting it to work as well as it should. Also, there's tons of tiny glitches with this product, like the recharging -- it must be done via plug-in to the wall. You can't recharge via USB on your computer. In fact, if you do, the camera won't function properly until you plug it into the wall for a minute or two! It behaves as if it has no charge until you charge it via wall-socket for a minute! I have no idea how this is supposed to be practical, but that's how it functions. I'm not sure how to stress the driver issue, though. Backup whatever they send you, it's very important. As for the performance of the hardware itself, it is what you expect for the amount you pay. It's functional, but not intuitive. Picture quality is satisfactory, but not Quite as good as your next-door neighbors', you know what I mean? If you're looking for a cheap gift, or for a quick fix to a camera problem that you don't want to throw too much money at, this is actually a pretty good choice. Like I said, it's the best of the best of the knockoff brands. But beyond that, this is a low quality item with a slightly lower price tag. So, it's all about what you want. Good luck!
