Although I've heard the VitaMix will pulverize absolutely anything, I've still had some difficulty with some chunks remaining after I've blended something. It's by far the best blender I've used, but it doesn't perfectly blend like it advertises. I've had frozen banana chunks left over in my smoothies. It's also very loud, so don't use it when anyone else is asleep. So it's not a perfect blender, but it will suffice. Ease of Cleaning I hate that you can't put it in the dishwasher. Durability It's very durable.

I have been using my Vita Mix blender for 30 years, yes, 30 years!! I bought the 1980's model with the stainless steel body and have used it for heavy duty blending and juicing ever since. I also will swirl a couple cups of wheat kernels into flour in there if I need just a cup or so for homemade pancakes. Yes, it is that powerful! I think it is superb for blending the ingredients of cooked vege stock into a thicker stock base too. It will purree the veges into tiny particles that are there, but are so small that they just make the stock thick. I make organic homemade mayo in it all the time and the lid with the opening makes it possible to slowly drip that additional oil into the mix while it is blending so that the mayo comes out as good as Kraft! It is loud and I cant fill the unit too full or else the power will slosh things out if the mix is thin. But otherwise it will blend to perfection anything I throw in there. Smoothies are a quick swirl and then delight!!

This is more than just a blender. Because of its unique square shaped bottom food does not get trapped and stuck down there. it is so powerful that it easily takes frozen fruit peanut butter, protein powder and water or milk and mix it into a delicious breakfast. A friend of mine had this for years. I think it was about 20 years. She gave it to me, about eight years ago, when she was moving. I have definitely given a workout, and used it very very often. Yesterday, however, the motor gave up and wouldn't even crank on all. Though I am sad that it is died. I'm sure it does nothing, as it has given good hard service for probably about the last 30 years. this would be well worth the investment. One certainly gets their money's worth.

I received my Vitamix from my mother who bought it in the 1980s after seeing it on the Richard Simmons show.  It still works beautifully.  I have never had a product that worked as well for so long.  I use it for everything.  I make soup, knead dough, juice, chop ice, make slushies, apple sauce, baby food...  The list goes on and on.  I don't think I could wear out the motor if I tried (believe me I've tried). I am one of those people that will not replace an appliance unless it is broken.  In the past 30 odd years, Vitamix has come out with new blenders with new bells and whistles.  I would love to get my hands on one of those.  Alas, my Vitamix refuses to quit working.  It just keeps on performing like a champ, day in and day out.  I use it constantly.  This is one of those appliances that really is as easy to use as it claims.  The blades may be its best feature. These blades are reverse acting.  This eliminates the problem of food clogging the blades and gives uniform chopping, grinding and grating ability.  I can grind raw meat or vegetables without adding liquid.  The reverse action also chops soft food like cheese to a uniform consistency without pushing the food out of the blades and leaving it there.  The reverse action pulls the food back in. I recommend this Vitamix without reservation.  Just be forewarned that you will probably have it for life.
