Vita-Mix 5000 Variable Speed Blender Review

We purchased a Vitamix Blender several years ago after watching the demonstrations of it for a couple of years at the New Mexico State Fair.  My husband was convinced it would help us to be more healthy eaters.  Although it is a great product, I'm not sure it has helped us become more healthy eaters!

At first, of course, we used it and tried various recipes, but it seems that the novelty wore off rather quickly.  The blender is super-powerful and I don't think I could easily go back to a regular blender after using this one.  It's almost scary how powerful it is.  It does do a tremendous job of blending all kinds of things, however.  It makes pureeing a breeze.  There is always the cleanup, but it is relatively easy since the bottom part does not come apart.  You just rinse it out, add some water and a couple of drops of detergent and whir it up!

I've always had a countertop space problem, so it has been difficult to find a place to store this piece of equipment.  Right now it sits on my counter top, but it is taking up space that I'd rather have for something else.  I haven't been using it much lately, but maybe I'll have a smoothie for lunch!  Sounds like a good idea!

As far as recommending this product, I do recommend it, but I think the price is exhorbitant.  I'm glad I have one, but I don't know that I'd invest in it again.  So, if you have the resources available or if you think you'd use it quite often, then go for it!  The machine is very good!
