The Shortie phone by Virgin Mobile is a great cell phone for someone who needs just that, a simple phone without all the bells and whistles. I use my cell phone only for emergencies, not to talk endlessly. This phone is simple to use and easy to program. The only downside is that some of the print has worn off the buttons, so this does make it a bit difficult to send a text message as I cannot see all the letters. I bought this phone for my daughter in case of emergencies and it does the job she used it for about a year before getting a new one and she had no problem with it, it makes an excellent first phone for someone.
