Viewsonic VX2235wm 22-inch Widescreen LCD Monitor —
I have this monitor but with the iPod dock instead (VX2245wm). I purchased this item about a year ago and have had no problems with color fading or dead pixels. The size of the screen is huge. The colors and clarity are far better than the Dell LCD I had been using for the past 3 years. I haven't had a chance to utilize the iPod dock so I cannot give that feature a fair review.I purchased this monitor because of the many attractive features. It has four USB ports, an eight-in-one media card reader, head phone jack, built-in speakers (but don't rely on these solely for entertainment), volume control knob, DVI/VGA connectivity, 5ms pixel response time and good resolution (1,680x1,050 pixels ). The overall look of the monitor is one of the best I've seen thus far (besides the new Sony monitors on the market).
I have had no problems with the VX2245wm. Web surfing, word processing and DVD playback have been above average. I have noticed, though, that when I return from sleep mode (I am using Vista Business), the digital signal fails and I am not able to get back to my desktop without having to do a hard shut down. I'm not sure if it is my power/sleep settings or just Vista (which is crappy by the way), but this drives me crazy. But this does not happen often.
Although Viewsonic makes the best of almost everything it produces, I'd have to say this monitor is one of their best products. I paid about $330 for this monitor about a year ago and that was a very decent price at the time for a 22-inch LCD monitor. I have heard horror stories about LCD monitors having bad pixels or just dying after a few months of use, but I find that Viewsonic monitors have longevity. Viewsonic is definitely a brand I consider first when shopping for electronics, not to mention their 3-year standard warranty is a plus. This was a smart purchase for me. I am pleased with this monitor and anyone considering this monitor will be pleased as well.
I give this monitor 90 out of 100 points. Highly recommended.
