Viewpoints Reviews

Almost a year has gone by since I first learned of Viewpoints.  I can't even tell you how I first learned of it.  Somewhere I saw a post about a new review web-site and I decided to investigate.

A couple of emails back and forth with Jolie Fleming and a long  telephone conversation in which she described a review utopia of unsurpassed beauty.  Okay, I exaggerate.  But she did say it was going to be a really neat place where I could write all I wanted about virtually anything I wanted.  A sales pitch?  No doubt, but how's it worked out?

I joined sk-you.viewpoints.com on August 18th of this year.  I had been shopping at  Kmart and when given my receipt the cashier suggested I go to the website and take the online survey.  I might win a shopping spree.  I came home...

Viewpoints is a cool site for sharing your opinions on things and for getting real honest opinions from regular people on things.  You can review pretty much anything, products, services, music, movies, restaurants, websites.  

It's very open ended.  You can pick just about anything you have an opinion about and say whatever you want about it.  So many other sites that I've seen that seem to be trying to let people share their opinion are more limiting.  Like they mainly let you rank the product on an overall scale, then rate selected features on a scale.  Sure,that lets you express overall...

To get the site up and running, the crew needed some writers. That's the orginal PC that you may see mentioned. That's all in the Member Center (an easy click from the front page). It's also possible to earn PC with 400 reviews. The Bard just did that. Go guy.

I snagged an odd slot as a social person on site. That never fully developed...

Well, this is my 200th review and I am rapidly approaching my 6 month anniversary here at Viewpoints. I thought this might be a fitting place to review this very site:

1. Great Welcome! CyndiA, my sister, encouraged me to write for Viewpoints when it was just beginning. Frankly, I wasn't so sure about signing up because I didn't tend to put any information about myself on the internet, so I procrastinated for quite a while. One of the interesting things about many stock phrases - cliches, if you will - is that though some may seem corny and eye-roll inducing, they nevertheless contain a grain or two of truth.

Consider this, Exactly one year ago today, I was writing what was then only my third submitted review here at Viewpoints.  Only 11 days earlier I had registered as a member, and I was still trying to find my "writer's niche" in this still-new community of online reviewers.

Way back around December 06 I got an e-mail telling me about a new writing site that would be launching. I was, of course leery, that not being the first time I've been approached. Soon I was talking with Jolie Fleming the VP of Content & Community of the site which was eventually named Viewpoints. I then found myself talking with Matt Moog, founder and CEO. They were both interested in hearing what I had to say and listened. Perhaps what I liked the best at first was the openness about who this company was. There were no secrets. Seeing as this is the review which almost makes me "Writer 1" (Yippee! Only one more after this!)  I thought I would take the opportunity to review my experience with this great site!

About the site

Viewpoints is different then most review-sharing sites in that it is actually a welcoming community of people!  I have made many friends here in my short time, learned a lot of great stuff, and just have had a total blast!

Beyond this, it is aesthetically a very beautiful site.  The site was well-plannedto not be overwhelming; it is well organized and easy to use!  All websites should strive to this...

I was one of the early ones to be invited to join Viewpoints and was one of the original 20 members appointed to the Publisher's Circle. I say this up front so that you know where I stand and you can judge this review with that knowledge.

With a long background writing reviews for all sorts of products and services, I'm a natural fit for Viewpoints. Of all the places I've written reviews, Viewpoints makes it the easiest. This could lead to problems in the future but, for now, it's a joy to come here and write reviews. I'll write a little about the good stuff before I get to the possible negatives,...

I was asked in late 2006 to be part of a Beta Testing team to help launch a new site. There was no name for the site yet.

It would be a place where people review a wide variety of products and services.  Some would have a lot of exerience and even expertise doing this, and others would have little to no experience but be able to give it their best shot.  

I was assured if I got involved I would be treated with kindness and professionalism and there would even be some appreciation in terms of some monetary compensation with a few strings attached.

Viewpoint Rocks!!! 

 Viewpoints donated $5.00 to my charity through the IGive website for signing up. What a wonderful thing for a site/company to do. Every dollar counts and $5.00 REALLY counts when everyone gives.
Thank you viewpoints!! Most big retailers only donate 2% of a purchase and sometimes it only amounts to a couple of dollars. Viewpoints donated $5 and all I had to do was sign up and review 3 things. But I found out how much fun it was and I look forward to continuing to write and read more reviews.  You are high on my list. I discovered Viewpoints through MyPoints, and it has kept me so occupied, I love it! Where I work, if I don't have any customers, I pretty much don't have any work to do. I do, however, get to look online at most websites, including this one, so that makes me happy! I get to spend lots of time on here :)

It is such a great website to learn about pretty much whatever you want! I love going through and reading what everyone has to say on things that I have and movies I love, as well as things that I don't like or am planning/wanting to buy. This website was a fantastic idea because it's something...
