I am an actress who had to have her hair straightened before a performance, so I bought this flatiron to use.   My natural hair type is wavy and color treated and have used flatirons before, so I had a fairly good idea of what to expect when my hair was to become straight.  I trust the Vidal Sassoon name, and have for almost 2 decades, so I did not hesitate when I made my purchase.  I followed the directions and started to use it, when smoke literally came out of my head!  Yep, the flatiron burned off a chunk of my hair....and I had to be onstage in six hours!  I called the VS customer service...
