I contacted Victoria's Secret customer service department via their website because I had concerns about my credit card information and security after a visit to their retail stores. I was first told that they weren't able to help me because they weren't part of the retail store division but asked for more contact information so they could pass my inquiry on.
The next contact I had attempted to placate me with some vague references to corrective action but didn't actually answer my questions. I don't care about the corrective actions taken or not, I just want to know that my identity isn't going to be stolen by an unscrupulous employee. I wasn't disappointed in their service like they wrote, showing that no one actually read my email, but was worried about the safety of my personal information.
The third contact, after I had asked a third time about their security policies, told me to contact an 800 number. No one at their online customer service department even attempted to answer my questions. I'm not pursuing this in writing because I want written documentation of this issue.
The reason I contacted them in the first place? A cashier wrote down and retained my identification number. I used to work for another store owned by that corporation and we had the entire credit card number on our copy of the receipts. I wanted to know if Victoria's Secret did this too because I was uneasy about having my identification number being kept with my credit card number in an unsecure location. This is a serious question but no one at the company would actually give me any information.
