Victoria's Secret Mirror Mirror Shiny Lip Gloss —

I love Victoria's Secret (VS) and VS Beauty and I do shop there often, however for the first time they failed me! I bought this shiny lip gloss a year ago and last week I found it in my makeup case. Why did I throw that in the bottom of my makeup case? How come I stopped using this? I couldn't quite recall and thought maybe I had just forgotten about it so I took it out to remind myself to use it again.

After trying to use this for about 3 days, I remember why it ended up on the bottom of my makeup case! In summary: it sucked! but if you want to know more, keep reading.

The container
VS sells this in a cute little easy-to-carry, round container. The cap says Victoria's Secret around the rim which I love because I love VS! So looking at this cute little bottle, and the spot of lip gloss you can see via the see-through hole, it's easy to see why I was drawn in to this product. The cap twists off easy revealing what appears to be an easy to apply lip gloss, this is where it all goes wrong.

Easy to apply? Well how do you apply it anyway?
So with most lip glosses I've owned that come in these little round containers, you apply it with your finger. So I tried that - but it seems impossible to get any from my the jar to my finger to my lips! The product is really sticky and not the consistency that I'm used to with lip gloss. I could almost resale this bottle as never been used because that's how little I was able to get out with my finger. After a few minutes of rubbing my finger around in a circle trying to coat it with the product, I was able to get a little tiny bit onto my lips. What did I see? Well, nothing really. They looked a little darker, but not by much. What's really weird is that although I would notice a lot of color on my finger, once I tried to put it on my lips I saw no color.

So I thought, maybe I'm supposed to use a lipstick brush. I pulled out my faithful lipstick brush that has worked well for me in the past, and found the lip gloss did seem to come out easier with the brush than with my finger - however when I tried to put it on I still noticed no color! Now my lips did look mildly glossy, but overall they were just really sticky (icky) and looked no different than usual.

Victoria you have disappointed me :(
After multiple tries, I still can't figure out how this is supposed to work and once again I've thrown it back into the bottom of my makeup case thinking maybe some idea will hit me in the future. For $10, this lip gloss does not stand up to the quality I'm used to getting from VS which is very disappointing. I've bought 2 dollar lip gloss from Target that works better than this! So what it comes down to is either I'm completely inept at using this lip gloss, or it just doesn't work. I'd like to believe it just plain stinks! There's no color, no scent, not even much gloss - and my lips feel all sticky and gross. I have not given up on the VS brand, but I won't be dropping $10 or even $2 on this product ever again. Consumers be warned!

Glad you read it too :) Hope i saved you some money! I have been using it recently just to use it up b/c it was wasting space in my makeup case, but I find it takes a lot of effort to get any color to show

Glad I read this...it's their semi-annual sale now and I was doing my pre-emptive research to avoid buying duds. Thanks!

Good to know it's not just me! Luckily I've gotten enough good stuff from them that I still love the place :)

I HAVE TO SAY THAT I AGREE WITH YOU. I LOVE VS AS WELL, BUT THIS PRODUCT IS WAY TOO STICKY.

I don't think I've tried this one. I usually stay away from glosses in a little pot like that. After reading your review, I'll know to not even bother now if I happen to get the urge to buy this.

Yeah I actually tried it many times b/c I realllllllly wanted to like it! Oh well :) It doesn't turn me off of the brand though, I still love VS! Thanks for reading!

Lots of people don't like this stuff. I can't remember if I tried it or not. Knowing me, I have but I obviously wasn't impressed enough to use it more than once.

Maybe perhaps a straw? Just kidding. Nice review.

this is not such a great secret to get from Victoria, I take it? Good job, Suzi! :>
