By far, the most popular products in this line are the silver & wood collections, of which there are MANY styles to choose from! Wood jewelry has been up and coming in the fashion world for a while now; but generally speaking I've found that it's not as well made nor as exciting design-wise as wood jewelry by Verlu is - I think you can see what I mean in the pictures. The production considers itself a quality jewelry maker first and foremost; and being eco-friendly & fair trade just the way to properly do business - and has been doing so for well over twenty years now. Although this line is only a little more than a year old in the US.

The picture shown in the details tab, is a pair of earrings from the "Gypsy" collection. They feature Rosewood with textured silver sheets on both sides of the slightly twisted shape, with teardrops of silver that freely dangle off the bottom. The other pair of earrings shown (from Kayumanis) has an ingenious designer's creation; the hook is connected to a hinge that is inside the top of the upper link; which prevents the hook from snapping-off (as opposed to if it had been conventionally soldered), and it also provides some movement.

The majority of the lines are handcrafted, all pieces are hand assembled, and all the wood is hand-carved. One of the things not pictured here are the wood cuffs and bangles, each truly unique because of the varying grains and hues of the different woods available. On the other hand, many of the solid silver pieces are casted for quality purposes, then hand textured or treated.

How do I know so much about Verlu?

While I am the manger of this wholesale company, I'd like to make it perfectly clear that my decision to take this job was not taken lightly. As somebody that firmly believes in the benefits of eco-friendly businesses and fair trade productions, this certainly was an excellent fit. I really appreciated the incredibly diverse workforce too, which is almost unheard of in Indonesia. Aside from the company's principles being in alignment with my own, I was also a model for over ten years, and I think it's safe to say I have a fairly well trained eye when it comes to trend-setting. Over the last year I've seen the designer "hit the spot" before trends emerge numerous times too. In fact, I'd never seen myself going into management, much less sales, but I've found that it isn't hard to deal with and sell things that you sincerely love and respect. With my disclaimer out of the way...

One of the best things about representing this company is my ability to wear anything from the collection I'd like to, at any time; and in doing so I've grown truly attached to many of the pieces. I'm not a "matchy-matchy" type of lady at all, and Verlu is great in that respect as well. I can pretty much wear any piece from one collection with any other - it's great! I think it's because the designs are a mix between modern and classic, and have a style that's distinctively its own. I'll admit that I don't wear everything either, but you'll see why when you look at the catalog online; there are soooo many different collections and styles, that not all of them will be to your tastes, but there WILL be a few that are - no doubt about it!

Verlu is almost entirely a 925 Sterling Silver collection, and there are a couple things of interest that should be said it. Traditionally silver has been reserved for casual or "fashion jewelry" and has tended to be of lesser quality. Since Verlu is more of a fine jeweler, this has created a unique genre all on its own - I'm sure that sopme of you may have noticed there has been more quality silver jewelry lines emerging lately too. Part of the reason is the price of precious metals has climbed quite a bit over the last six months or so. Silver is consequentially seen more often in fine jewelers' stores, and their demand for fine silver jewelry has increased proportionally to the market increase in silver's value. In the last few trade shows I've done, more and more jewelry retailers have told me that they are expanding their silver collections. So for those of you that are aware of the fine investment gold has been said to be, but was perhaps too expensive to actually invest in - try looking into buying silver instead!

Like I said, this is a wholesale company (only), but there's a "retail outlets" page on the website that shows all the stores currently carrying Verlu, and some of them have online stores as well.

Because of the eco-friendly and fair trade practices of Verlu, I like to say...
"Wear in everybody's Good Health!"
