Joining Cleveland Police Dept as an Auxilary Officer, I was given a great deal on a cell phone.  500 minutes (anytime, anywhere) for $50 a month.  I was given a fold closed Motorola with a belt clip to hold it.  I was quite impressed with the service.  They even gave me 100 free minutes since we use the phones as our radios, so we do not get Net folks showing up to accidents, shootings & drug busts.  So we use our cells to contact whomever we need assistance from.

2 years later I am driving home from a drug store who had a BOGO special on Tresseme shampoo & conditioner.  A drunk in a van tries to fly by me in a 25 mph residental zone with stop signs on every street which he is cruising thru.  SO I phone in his license # and area we are at, as he sees me giving his plate number, expiration date & state He backs up pulling a gun on me.  I yell ATTEMPT TO KILL and take off down the lawn on 4 homes on the corner, as he chases me down the street.  So I head to the main drag so others can witness what is going on.  An 18 wheeler sees the guy with the gun racing to get me & flashes me to stay in front.  He then signals for me to turn right, so I do, then to turn left immediately.  He blocks me in the parking lot as I get my cell to phone police dialing 911.  I get a guy who is asking me more than name & address, I tell him I have a jerk in a van pulling a gun on me.  I am now at Auto Zone blocked by an 18 wheeler (Conway) and get police here fast.  Auto Zone boss took me in to protect me.  He phones police.  No police show.  But they do at 9PM at my home.  They tell me NEVER USE 911 ON A CELL and give me the dispatch number to replace 911 on my emergency button.  Then I learn I was on my cell for 15 minutes with 911 who in Ohio goes to Kelly Services to take phone message to be called into the area services.  So CPD just got my call 5 hours later.  Then why does Verizon have 911 as emergency, not CPD.  We are being charged for it.  Why Verizon didnt follow up on cells getting 911 coverage, we PAY FOR IT!

Then in 2006, I get a bill for over $100.  They dropped my free 100 minutes & never told me.  When I refused to pay for 100 minutes I earned, they dropped me which was the best thing they could have done.  I now have the no contract To Go by T-Mobile.  Buy minutes to use when you need them.  No taxes, no service chages, no surprise charges. (read review).  Just got a speakerphone cell for $15.

Long list of PROS, only 3 to many more CONS. In Ohio any cell is terrible to have since not all Police, Fire & EMS gas cell contact per the news as I state.

I'm having a lot of trouble following your train of thought here. The review sounds like this is a TERRIBLE phone to have in an emergency and that the customer service is poor with bait-and-switch-like tactics happening. Why the high rating and the long list of Pros?? All does not compute.

They charge you for 911 but it is not available in Ohio, so why charge us. Verzon stated to news who featured me & a newsman who witnessed a fatal accident & called 911 on his cell to be told the number he dialed is not in service. He was Verizon also.

Soooo... Verizon is great for police work but not-so-great for emergencies? Is that it? --Bob

As an officer & their deal for us to stay in comtact but then try to use it for 911 call to learm a 911 from a cell is death call. Cells do not talk to Police or Fire or EMS but am amswerimg service.

I don't understand. One of your "Pros" is that Verizon is great to have in emergencies. Then your review strongly says exactly the opposite. Which is it? I can't give this review a "good point" until I understand exactly what you're discussing. --Bob
