When Verizon Fios was recently introduced to our area, my husband and I jumped on it. I have to say, my main motivation for switching from Comcast was the $90 per month savings that I was going to experience to bundle my phone, (which was already w/ Verizon), my cable TV and my internet (both of which were w/ Comcast). Although, there was some adjustment period to the new format of television, I actually enjoy the expanded channel options, and additional DVR features. For example, from 1 HD DVR box on my primary TV in the living room (2 standard boxes on the TV's upstairs) I can view programs that I have DVR'd on the TV's upstairs. That is a cool feature to me, as I am always "taping" movies that my husband is not interested in. As a non-technical person, I have not noticed any better picture quality, but I was pleased w/ quality of picture w/ Comcast.
As for the internet . . . I have not noticed major increases in speed for everyday surfing, but large file downloads are completed in less than half of the time it took for cable. All in all, I am pleased with Fios, but the best thing about it would still be the monthly savings.
