I recently switched to Fios from Time Warner. Although the picture is good ... so was Time Warner ... no difference! HOWEVER, the DVR went out the first month and I had to call for service. After a VERY long wait ... I was on the phone with them for over one hour when they decided my DVR was indeed not working (which I told them within the first two minutes of our conversation).... so they said a tech would come between 8AM-Noon the following day When he didn't show up I called and they had no record of him coming for a morning appointment ... but said he would be there btween noon and 4PM ...He showed up at 9PM that night. The tech said they had been experiencing a lot of problems with some of the DVRs every time they added new HD channels ... which they did the day my system went out.He did not seemed at all surprised with my problem
Since they changed my DVR, now my other TV's will not allow you to play recorded HD stations... even though I could before the DVR was changed. I called the service number displayed on my TV screen and they said they could not help me ... there was a special division set up for these problems and it was only available during normal business hours.
My brother had his Fios installed one month before mine and it has stopped working numerous times, also. They have him disconnect it and reconnect it to get it to come back on. We are both so disappointed we are considering going back to Time Warner... I live in Rowlett, Texas and he is in Garland, Texas.
For what it is worth ...My advise is WAIT before you choose to go with fios... they just need to get all the bugs out before anyone else has to endure the hassles I have. I thought was bettering myself by changing and all I have done is raise my blood pressure level!
Not saying they are BAD ... just not ready to add more customer to a NOT QUITE READY SYSTEM! Congrats to you that are getting good service and equipment ... condolences to the ones like me!
