The mood is right, lights are low, this is music you should know

Sweet love and the making of.  Shoot, there was a time it was considered improper to even broach the topic in public.  I'm not afraid of it, though.  Yep, I'm fearless.  Or stupid.  You decide.  But, I do know this, when it's time to grab that significant other, turn the lights down low, or fire up the flood lights, what ever your preference, you sure don't want that music you hear in porn movies playing in the background.   Or, DO YOU???  I don't want to know about it.

Real love making requires the right background music, for music sets the tone for everything, doesn't it?  I've read lists and lists of people's ideas about good nookie music and I don't get why they think doin' it music has to be ABOUT doin' it.  It can be about that, but mostly it just needs to see the right tone.  Of course, we won't get all into what YOUR tone might be.  Some things are best left to the privacy of our own home or motel room. Some may think Metallica, Marilyn Manson or Boxcar Willie are great "mood" music.  More power to ya.

I like to think my list has a little something for everyone.  Well, not Uncle Herbie, but, he's in prison for that.  For most of us semi-normal folks, these will do quite nicely, I think.  Of course we have to start our list with:

1. Can't Get Enough Of Your Love-Barry White: Because Mr. White is the undisputed king of the make-out song.  Just about any of his songs could be on this list, but this one is pretty much one of the great come-on songs ever.  And smooth as hell...

2. We've Got Tonight-Bob Seger: And, if Barry just doesn't quite get him/her in the mood, the "who knows what tomorrow will bring and I know you are lonely as me" plea could do the trick.

3. Let's Get It On-Marvin Gaye: Once the "mood" is established, well, this song leaves no doubt as to intent.  I can't hear this song anymore without the less than romantic image of Dr. Evil and Frau Farbissina, but, once I get THAT out of my head, Mr Gaye's song serves to get one in the "groove", if ya know what I mean.

4. Brick House-The Commodores:  Since you can never compliment her enough, get it all done with this one song. "The clothes she wears, the sexy ways, make an old man wish for younger days". Oh BEHAVE!

5. My Love-Paul McCartney and Wings: Since you can't live on raw lust alone, here's a little romance to throw in there.  Good for making your loved one feel not just sexy, but special, too.

6. Love to Love You Baby-Donna Summer: Two words:  Smokin'.  Hot.

7. You Are So Beautiful To Me-Joe Cocker:  Wanna make her weep and smile at the same time?  This song.  This song right here.

8. Love Won't Let Me Wait-Major Harris: Ah, 1975.  The year I graduated high school and Major Harris hit number one with this song we thought was the dirtiest thing we ever heard. We ate it up.

9. Here I Am (Come and Take Me)-Al Green: Prefer the direct approach?  He's burning deep down inside and he's made more than one woman's world go round.

10. Dreams-Fleetwood Mac: A break up song?  Yeah, but the melody just glides along, all dreamy like.  Perfect for the middle of this list, when no one's paying attention to lyrics, anyway. Right?

11. Tonight's the Night-Rod Stewart: Another "mood" making song.  That someone a little hesitant?  First time?  The nice Mr. Stewart has the answer.

12. Best of My Love-Eagles: For when you can't be there in person.  That sounds so wrong.

13. Sexual Healing-Marvin Gaye: This is really Let's Get it On Pt II. He only trails Mr White as king of the make out songs based on sheer volume.

14. You Shook Me All Night Long-AC/DC: The cure for the aches and pains what ails ya?  Brian Johnson and Angus Young have the answer for you.  Besides, we need a little good ole rock and roll tossed in amongst the seductive balladry.

15. China Girl-David Bowie: You're thinking Robbie Hart and  Julia Sullivan, aren't ya?  This tune is really quite seductive and perfect for the "mood", however.

16. Afternoon Delight-Starland Vocal Band: If seductive and moody isn't your thing, maybe a little "cheese" will do ya.  That's if you can get Ron Burgandy and his accapella choir off your mind!

17. Wicked Game-Chis Isaak: Its my firm belief people would watch the video and actually sweat.  Can't prove it.  But this almost erotic plea for love is a perfect make out song.

18. Need You Tonight-INXS: There's something about you girl /That makes me sweatThat is all.

19.  What a Wonderful World-Louis Armstrong: Just like aerobics, making out needs a cool down and this standard that always, always gives me a smile is the perfect cool-down song. Oh. yeeeeeaaaah.

You don't have to mention what Wicked Game made you think of. It made us ALL think of the same thing! :)

Your review is great! I laughed out loud at your witty remarks and also took a nice trip down memory lane remembering slow dancing with boys to some of those songs. I won't even mention what Wicked Game made me think of! ;)

Love them all except "Let's Get It On". It's just too blatant to put me in the move. I prefer As Yet's "Last Night". Very sexy. I see a hot CD in my future. OK, in my dreams. HAHA. SO glad you didn't add Rod Stewart's "Tonight's the Night". Ugh.

Wicked Game is the best!

Wonderful, wonderful review, although I didn't know must of the songs but then again, I am the girl in virtual bubble!! My friends and I always got a kick out of "Sexual Healing" because it had the word sex in it and seemed so dirty to us. Today I can't stand to even hear the title. I love your soundbite! My love songs WOULD be the more sentimental and lovey dovey ones but you did a great job at covering all your bases.
