My husband and I decided to haveĀ all the interior of our home painted at one time. Valspar Signature colors at Lowe's seemed like the best value for $30/gallon. We chose Linen for our living areas and Kraft Paper for the hallway and two of the bedrooms. Every room has required two coats of this "one coat" paint. The rep said that the problem was the age of the previous paint job. He also said that if the walls had been primed , one coat would have been enough. We will never know, because the second coats were already applied. If you buy this paint, be prepared to do an over the top prep job before applying the paint. Might as well go with less expensive paint, if primer is required.

You are right about one thiong...you will never know how it would have turned out had you used a primer. One fact that I can tell you is that primer is way cheaper than paint. And the results are a beautiful finish no matter which paint you had chosen. Also had you used another paint without a primer you could have been applying 3 coats. Bottom line is that p[rimer is cheaper than paint and the results are far better. Valspar is a great paint and goes on ultra smooth without any tacky pick up like other paints....its all in your prep work.

i have been painting for 30 years and i have never seen a paint cover in one coat but valspar is the best out thier i wish i could buy MCcloskies paint & primer again it is the best on the market wallmart use to carry it . wallmart semms to deleat things they know nothing about. one thing walmart paint employees dont know didly about the paint prouduct (paint) they sell.if they did they would keep nselling MCcloskeys.you can buy if you can find through a valspar rep MCcloskeys exterior paint and primer.one gallon is 15.00 while duramax is 30 to 35. exterior painting if you know what you are doing MCcloskeyes will cover in one coat so will duramax. start&finish painting. steve1100vstar@yahoo.com

Sounds like these people don't know a thing about paint. If you prep your walls correctly, using a primer like the back of the can says, your paint job will be much easier, cheaper, and the paint will preform like it is intended. Also, you get what you pay for. If you use a cheaper paint, which will also instruct to prime, you will work harder applying the paint and get a lesser quality paint as well. This means a paint that is not as durable and your paint job will have to be redone more offten. Again, costing more money in the long run. Valspr Signature is by far the BEST paint that I have used. It was very easy to apply and has had long lasting results. I also highly recomend Valspar's Duramax for a great exterior paint. ukrfoxes may like it since it is a self priming paint.
