Valspar paints are very good and are reasonably priced.

Over the course of the last 5-7 years, my husband and I have used only Valspar paints on both interior and exterior surfaces of our homes.  After trying other brands previously, we found the Valspar paint brand to splatter less, cover better, and look great!  Valspar's "American Traditions" is the type we use most often on the interior of our home.  It's always done a terrific job for us.  We use satin on the walls and semi-gloss on the trim work.

As for the exterior of the house, I believe we used Valspar's DuraMax exterior paint in Satin and the Semi-gloss on the trim.  It's...
  • Self priming, eliminates steps
  • Maximum UV resistance
  • Lifetime flexibility
  • Low temp application, paint in Spring and Fall
  • The last home we painted was done in a Satin creamy off-white color, with the trim in the same color, only semi-gloss, and the front door was done in a French blue semi-gloss.  The house just glowed in the sun, and also, under the moon.  Many of our neighbors claimed our house looked prettier than any other house on our block.

Valspar's color palettes include those by Martha Stewart, Waverly, Eddie Bauer, Laura Ashley, Seaside Retreat, and Earth Elements.  Each palette is full of lovely colors to choose from.  American Traditions paint has many of the  "American Trust Historic Colors" as well.

Valspar Paints are available at Lowe's.

A katianna PS...To my original review, I might add that when we used Valspar paint on the exterior of our home, we did prime well because we had replaced our old siding (LP, a type that was recalled) with James Hardie fiber cement siding. This company has definite rules on priming and painting to maintain one's warranty on the siding. Therefore, we did follow all the rules and primed our siding well prior to using the Valspar paint. One coat after priming probably would have sufficed; however, my spouse is a perfectionist, along with being a person who hates to paint; therefore he gave the exterior two coats, just because he didn't want to paint that house ever again as long as we lived in the Pacific Northwest! Seven years since moving, that Valspar painted house still glows beautifully in the moonlight! :o)
