Most HelpfulVacancy is the scariest movie I've seen in some time - perhaps ever. And if you plan on staying in a roadside motel anytime soon, I would steer clear of this terrifying movie.
Vacancy is the story of a couple - played nicely by Kate Beckinsale and Luke Wilson - in the last phases of their relationship. After some car trouble, they decide the only thing to do is to check into a dumpy roadside motel. Soon after entering their Honeymoon suite, Luke Wilson's character finds snuff tapes - and even more horrifying, they all have been shot in their room. The rest of the film is a fast-paced cat-and-mouse...

I put off watching Vacancy for a long time because of its poor reviews. But, I finally managed to get through Hostel and Hostel 2 and being very disappointed with those films despite their positive reputations, I gave Vacancy a shot. I was pleasantly surprised for much of the film.
Not my first choice of performers for this type of role, I still believe that big-name actors cannot do horror effectively because they lose their sincerity, I did believe Wilson and Beckinsale's performances. The idea of a hotel room used to make snuff films with each new guest (s) finding out the room's purpose...
review »Bought this just before Halloween this year and the timing was perfect. This is a classic thriller with all the heart stopping surprises.
I love those lost in the middle of nowhere and the only place to go is a wretched farmhouse or a "Bates Motel" complete with its own version of Norman...
The creepy motel clerk is immediately identified as someone you can't trust. As the film develops you will be truly on the edge of your seat if you enjoy this type of film. A must see for Hitchcock fans.
I really enjoyed this movie. It was nice to see a thriller/suspense movie without actors that have no common sense! You know how you normally get frustrated at the stupid things actors do that get them killed? Watching this couple, you were more like "wow, that's really smart!" It was just a really good movie!
There were a few moments that I had to turn my head. There are a few disturbing scenes.
