VTech V.Smile TV Learning System Review Summary

Most games played on television sets are advanced but VTech V.Smile TV Learning System is one that is more intuitive for youngsters. V.Smile TV Learning System is recommended by reviewers due to its educational nature, its large control buttons, its ease of use, and its excellent durability. VTech V.Smile TV Learning System is “An Educational Game That They Want to Play With” and it provides “Endless Fun for Your Little Ones”. It does require the purchasing of additional games to expand the capabilities, but other gaming systems like Nintendo and X-Box are no different and VTech V.Smile costs a lot less. It ranks as one of the better Electronic Toys available to young children.

The V-Smile by V-tech is an awesome game system for your little learners!

The V-smile is an educational video game sytem that plays solely the V-Smile cartridge learning games, as opposed to the traditional Playstation, Nintendo and X-Box systems.

The console is orange and purple, has a...

TheVTech V.Smile TV Learning System is a game system for little ones not quite old enough for the big kid video games.

I bought The VTech V.Smile Learning systemfor my daughters about 5 years ago.  I was not happy about having to purchase an adapter and extra controller in addition to the system. ...

The VSmile by VTech is a great way to allow your kids to have video games if you think they are too young for XBox, PlayStation, or Nintendo.  It is educational and easy for young kids to play.  The controller has big buttons, and you can even switch the side the joystick is on.

The system and the games are not too expensive.  It uses batteries and cannot be plugged in so that adds a small amount to the expense, but it makes it easier to move it to different TVs in the house or take it in the car.

I love the v-smile. We have had it for like 2 years or so now. Here's what I loved about it:

  1.  Educational games aren't usually this fun.
  2. The look and act like a real video game.
  3. It is easy for little hands to manipulate.
  4. I was acctually amazed by looking at the back of the games by how much it acctually teaches them. Everything from simple letter recognition to planets and nutrition.
  5. They learn without knowing that they are learning anything. All that they know is that they are earning points.
  6. Games are in characters that they already love like Dora, Diego, Thomas the train, Spiderman, Brats & more....

Santa brought my 2 boys (4 &8) this system last Christmas (2006)...So after a year of frequent use and having the system in my 4 year old's room I can say that it is very durable and easy to use. The large buttons, controllers and game menus are very kid friendly. The games come in a variety of popular characters and different age appropriate levels. Games run about $19.99 a piece which is alot cheaper than Nintendo or Leapster games. The only flaw it has is the a/c plug in the back is touchy and if it gets bumped the power will turn off. I read about that in a review before I bought it and sure... read full review »

This was the smartest thing my Husband and Me could have invested in for our Daughter!

We bought it when she was 4 and now she is 5 and in the Kindergarten. She was not very interested in learning too much and we were very worried because she was facing school soon. We purchased it and immediately she was into it. She had no idea she was learning. She saw herself as a bigger kid in the house and having a video game like her bigger siblings she plays constantly. Through this system she knows all colors, number identification up to 100, she's adding, subtracting, matching things as well as memorizing!...

My son received this for his third birthday along with three games. He is always the one who asks to play the games and I can see how much he has learned since getting the game system. The only problem we have had with it is lately, after eight months, it is starting to be sensitive when it is plugged in. We have to play with the connections and remove the cartridge in order to get it to turn on instead of just plugging it in and turning it on. We will be buying a second controller for my daughter to play along side her brother in the near future.

This is the best solution that I have seen. Ny son has had this since he was 3 years old. I can see the joy and fun that he has each time we play. He has learned a lot so far  and he gets to play with all his favorite characters(elmo, thomas the train , and bob the builder). The system is 2 years old and has become a little touchy. We have to turn the power on and then slide the game in. I wish the company would improve the longevity of the system or offer a trade in.

Received this as a gift for my 4 and 6 year old girls. They just love it and so do I. The cartriges are easy to use and it keeps them so busy that they don't realize they are learning. The graphics are pretty simple compared to xbox, etc, but the price was a lot more reasonable. I'm very happy with this gift and would recommend it to others.

This is one of the very best investments you can me for your child(ren)!  Definitely teaches them skills they will need & grows with them!  My son (5) and daughter (8) both love playing with this and helping one another!  I feel like they are both learning while playing .

My older son has all the game systems, i.e. Xbox 360, PS2, etc.  My 3 year old couldn't play those games, no matter how hard she tried.  It was too hard, not age appropriate and frustrating for her.  Imagine my surprise when I came across the Vsmile Learning System by Vtech!!

Perfect for her age!  Big joysticks w/ extra big buttons that are perfect for Toddler hands!  Games are easy to maneuver through and Dora never dies!  There is no "Game Over" unless she wants it to be.  All her favorite characters have games, such as Dora, Barney, ELmo, The Wiggles and Little Mermaid.

 I didn't...

I love the Vteck VSmile Game System!  Thats right game system. If you are a parent of a 2yr  to 8yr old boy or girl, then you need to get this product. Its a game system, like the Nintendo, Wii, or Xbox. This product offers fun and learning. It's great for kids to learn so many diffrent things at diffrent ages. It offers most of the charactors they love from tv programs they watch. There's no vilence of any kind and no bad language. Being a mother of a 3yr old boy, I knew this was a product that I wanted. I mean what kid doesn't like video games? Specially boys. My son loves his VSmile. He...

I love the IDEA of this toy.  My kids bugged me FOREVER to get them an X-box or Gamecube or something and I just didn't like the idea of my kids sitting on the sofa instead of playing outside...and most of the games have more violence than I want to let into my house.  Then I heard of the V.smile.  EVERY game is educational...but it still has characters that my older kids won't think are for babies.  I mean, the 6 year old boys don't want to play with Dora or Mickey Mouse all the time with the 2 year old sister - but there is stuff that they love as well.

Sadly, it is not very well made. ...

I would like to give this system a good review...really I would.  My boys liked it and it seemed to be good fun and a little educational also.  However, we have had such bad experiences with the machine that I just can't give it high marks.  Our boys received our first one about two years ago for Christmas from a relative and the boys played with it for about 7 months on and off before it developed a "short" in the on/off button and would only turn on sometimes after you jiggled it a little.  Finally it refused to start all together.   After a few months without one, our boys talked us into...

Our son received the V-Tech Smile for his third birthday.  He adores playing games on it by himself and with a second controller, he plays with his cusion and his dad and I, too. I am constantly amazed at how much he is learning with these games and how much more coordinated he is with his small motor skills (used to control the joystick and writing pen, etc.)

He thinks he is just playing games with his favorite friends, Thomas the Train, Diego and Friends, Backyardigans, and Ratatouille are his favorites.  But I know he is learning because the games are educational.  One game taught him the...
