I cannot say enough great things about this product. I have an autistic son, and this V.Reader taught him to read when he was just two years old! He had a lot of trouble with communication, and none of his toys seemed to interest him. I bought this for him because he liked computers, and he was instantly hooked. It comes with a few free books to download, and you can buy additional ones online or in stores. It also has games that come with each book. When a story is being read to the child, it highlights each word as it says it so the child can follow along. Each cartridge has an age range associated with it so you can find the ones that will be best for your child. My son had this for about two months, and then he was reading simple two and three letter words. It wasn't long before my son was reading longer words because he had learned to sound out the words. My son learning to read was the first step on his way to learning to communicate, and I am forever grateful for this product. I tell every parents I meet to buy on of these!

I have twins with autism that love handheld games! They love the V Reader!! It is one of the longer lasting games, as far as durability. It reads to your child, and helps teach your child to read while having fun. V Tech is on too of their game!!! They have a variety of cartridges from Mickey Mouse, Spongebob, The Little Engine, etc.... Something for every child!!! As far as batteries, if you either use re chargeable or AA alkaline batteries, they last quite a while!!! You can also buy a wall plug, or cigarette lighter plug for the car for on the go fun!!! Great for trips!!! I can't really complain. The only thing I would change is the ability to watch movies lol. Price is not to bad, better than average. The screen is durable, doesn't scratch easy, also doesn't shatter if dropped, my boys have dropped there's a million times. We have had several V Readers, I buy them whenever I can find them on sale, my boys also love the V Smile and mobigo!

I am very disappointed with the quality of this product that is made to be used by kids. I bought this for my 3-year-old for Christmas last year in an effort to keep him off of my phone. He played with this for a few months and loved it, but then half of the screen stopped working. You can only choose options that are on the half of the screen that works. It will only read cartridges about half of the time, which leads to tears of frustration from my son when he really wants to play a certain game. As a product made for kids to use, this should be a lot better. I have not contacted the company because I don't have my receipt or the original packaging. Save your money and buy something else, and remember to keep the receipt & packaging in case it breaks!

This is a great for kids . With the v - reader interactive e- reading system children will discover the joy of learning while , reading while seeing the most favorable and most lovable charachter's like dora the explorer and sponge sqaure pant's and so , so many more ect . , in stories with very clear and very very vivid animated image's . with the touch screen while there building up the educational skill's while having fun at the same time . all of the storie's book , come with full and colorful animated screen's stories with fully loaded narrated stories . thtey would also have fully reading game skill's .and story dictionary and you can even download additional e reading book's and content from V - tech learning lodge navigator . my daughter and son really does love's this little v - tech v - reader and you can get and download extra ' s feature's and content for them . i reall y think every child should have one.

i was so excited for my son to get this vtech v. reader for his fifth birthday. he loves to read but is just learning so  love how this new educational toy from vtech shows the words as its reading it to help teach word recognition. my sons teacher has told us his reading skills have improved and i feel that some of that progress was do to him playing with the vtech v.reader. i did however have a hard time getting the free books that it comes with to download on to my computer. i still havent figured that one out yet. i do also think they should have a wider range in books to choose from. i do love that they have games on there that teach the child to go back and research what they had read. you can also track your childs progress online and see how their doing when they are playing. the books are a bit expensive but i guess thats worth it when its for your childs education though. i plan on getting one for my three year old too.

Has really helped my daughter learn to read and she doesn't even realize she learning :)  That is my favorite part of the V-reader.  It is educational and fun while she learns.  Need to get more books but its great for just starting out.

Wehave a little girl and want her to play and at the same time learn and grow mentally.  She really picked up quick how to use it and the different colors, shapes, and sounds keep her interest for long periods.  As all other vtech products, you can really see them intently focus and get great satisfaction when they do a good job.  We always look and deoend on this brand for quality and as a learning tool.  It has been our experience that when we use these products that it really helps them to devolp for school, as well as being very smart.  Once you teach a child to learn, they tend to find enjoyment in accomplishing more.  way to go vtech.

If you're looking for a fun way to teach your kids how to read, I would suggest the VTech V.Reader. Not only does is it good for younger kids who are starting to read, it's great for older kids who are developing their reading skills. The V.Reader is like a kids version of the Kindle, but it uses cartridges that act as books. Each cartridge is a different story that also comes with games related to the story. The reader is very interactive--the screen is a touch screen--and it allows kids to touch the words or pictures of the story. I recommend the V.Reader but beware that you'll have to pay for more cartridges once your kid get's bored of the ones you have.
