I have had two children without a crib mobile and never knew what I was missing. Most mobiles are wind up and only work for a minute if that but this crib soother is battery operated and will play up to 10 minutes which is more than enough for my baby. The soother has become part of our naptime routine. Each time I lay my baby down for a nap she turns her head to look at the lights or watches the projection on the ceiling. In no time the lights and music have her drifting off to sleep. There are so many options with the lights, even no lights and sounds. VTech thought of everything with this model. The button to start the soother is large and easy to find in the middle of the night. The red lights are softer and can be turned on individually. It operates on 4 C batteries, normally a negative. But this soother doesn't go through the batteries as I suspected. I am using rechargables in it now. I definitely like this much better than any mobile I have seen. I am glad I never invested in them.
