Bad phone, bad VTech

VTech - 2418 2.4 GHz Analog Cordless Phone (Black/Silver) — 

I was warned by the person at the place I bought it that the keys would get mushy - I didn't listen and I'm sorry I didn't.  The keys got so mushy that the phone was unusable.  What good is that?
