VTech - 2418 2.4 GHz Analog Cordless Phone (Black/Silver) —

To the Point

I convinced my husband that the Princess phone in our bedroom had to go. We didn't need a good phone since we rarely talk in there but we did need a phone. We bought the Vtech 2.4 GHz telephone and it's been fine.

A Closer View

I liked it because I wanted a phone that stands up and takes up as little space as possible. At its highest and that would be in the base it measures just under 9 inches high and 3 inches wide.

We literally use it to say hello when the phone rings. We have never even used it to call out. We just wanted a phone that allowed us to hear the other person on the other end.
It does have some functions but this is a simple phone. You won't get speaker phone capabilities which is a must in my other rooms. You won't get caller i.d. which I am very used to so I have answered the phone early in the morning only to find out it was the wrong number. Still for $18.88 it works. The prices vary on this so find the lowest price. We bought it in a discount store in our town.

This is a cordless phone with headset capability. The 2.4 GHz technology is supposed to give us clear calls and really the sound isn't terrible again taking the price into consideration and where it is located. It has a phone button that I hit to talk; a redial button and an off button to end the call. The phone button also has a flash option so you can answer another call.

It has 10 number speed dial memory.
It has selectable ring tones.
It has a page/handset locator.
It has 30 channel operation for call clarity.

It has to be charged for 12 hours. It's lightweight and is slightly curved so it fits into my hand really well. It's also an attractive black and silver phone.

There is a limited one-year warranty but for the price I'd buy a new phone.

I wouldn't suggest that you put this in your office or living room but it would make a decent phone for a kid's room if you allow your children to have a phone. I know the reviews are not good for this telephone. I'm rating it average and recommending it only as a phone that might go in a spare bedroom or by your laundry area in the basement. The battery life is not supposed to be good so you will not want this as a main phone.

Jo's Viewpoint

It works for our purposes.

very nice Jo, and I have a vtech....and you are right it is perfect for the kids. The battery on ours will last around 2-3 hours ( the kids have run it down so many times I am amazed it still recharges) I got mine on clearance for about $12 so it was a very good deal.

This sounds like it has about as many features as my cordless, but it is a good phone.

You do, I hope, have a backup phone in case you have a long power outage, don't you?

Great review!
