The Urban Rebounder is a small trampoline. I would not recommend any kind of rebounder that doesn’t have some sort of handle or screen to prevent falling off or losing your balance.

The company claims that a group of Urban Rebounding trainers has tested other brands and found broken springs, rips and other safety problems. The company claims that they took this into consideration and the Urban is a superior product.

The Urban Rebounder folds, has a stabilizing bar and comes with three DVDs with workouts that run about 30 minutes. It will cost you about $115.00.

The stabilizing bar comes up to about my waist and I’m 5’ 4” tall. The company describes the bar as training wheels. In other words when you are comfortable bouncing on the Rebounder you won’t have to hold on. I don’t buy that. I am fairly comfortable on equipment and liked holding on. There is not netting around this unit.

The Urban Rebounder has a one-year warranty, weighs only 35 pounds and is 40 inches in diameter and 10 inches high. It can hold up to 300 pounds. The bottom of the unit is flexible and can be used outside. It is designed to provide a small bounce rather than a high jump. The feeling of a small bounce rather than a high jump made me feel safer.

I went on this mini trampoline with a negative outlook but I was pleasantly surprised. The claim that it gives a small bounce is accurate. I never found myself jumping high in the air. I also never let go of the bar though I must admit that after a few days I did let go to see what I thought.

I was a bit apprehensive since the Urban Rebounder was not on a mat. In spite of the rubber tips I thought it might slip. It never did and I used it for about 30 minutes the first time and about 15 minutes after that.

Some of the exercises I tried on the Rebounder include adductor (inner thigh) and abductor (outer thigh) work. This means that while holding on I lifted one leg out and then across the other while jumping. I found it a bit awkward but it can be done.

It will burn calories as will jump roping. The advantage to the Rebounder over jump roping is that it is very easy on the joints making it a great piece for older people who will hold on or those with disabilities with permission from their doctors.

I didn’t work up a sweat on it. I did get my heart rate up but not enough for me to use it as a complete cardio workout daily. I certainly wouldn’t suggest this as the only piece of equipment to buy unless you have special needs.
