Big Fatty is a big liar!

2 star rating

a beauty diva, fun loving, not a fan of shimmer, a lip products lover, not happy with this product
Pros

shines lips, looks nice over lip color for night, not sticky

Cons
wears off fast, doesn't plump my lips, not much of a tingle, I don't like clear, shimmery glosses

Quick View: I don't NEED plumper lips but I just can't stop buying lip plumpers anyway. Most really don't work all that well but I like to try them nonetheless. This one doesn't do anything and it's fairly pricey. Next!

About Urban Decay Big Fatty Lip Plumper

Urban Decay describes the plumper this way:

Watch your lips swell with this incredible plumping lip gloss. With a subtle gold sheen that reflects light, it enhances your new lush lips. So take a hit, light up a smile, feel the burn, and experience psychedelic results. Lips look fuller and fine lines disappear. The wand features the perfect flocked applicator for plumping evenly.

* Get up to a 20% fuller pout!!!
* Plumping starts within 10 minutes & last up 3 hours.
* Lips get noticeably more pink.

I describe the plumper this way:

This plumper comes in a multicolored tube with a sponge tipped applicator. It doesn't have much of a scent and no taste that I could discern. It is clear with slight gold flecks. You can wear it alone or over lip color.

The plumper is lightweight and not sticky. It doesn't sting my lips like other lip plumpers do. I feel a slight tingling sometimes but nothing more. The gold shimmer is pretty in a disco sort of way but does look nice over deeper lip colors. Alone, it's very, very sheer and barely noticeable.

It last on the lips for about 30 minutes then fades away. I saw NO plumping at all. Usually, when I use a lip plumper, my lips tingle and sometimes burn, then they get red and slightly swollen. Bee stung if you will. This stuff doesn't do that. It doesn't do anything!

I have to say that others I know seem to like Urban Decay Big Fatty Lip Plumper so, if you're willing to shell out the $18.00 for a slim tube of clear with gold flecked lip plumper to try, you may get the results I didn't. I think I have been spoiled by DuWop Venom Gloss.

My Viewpoint

Urban Decay Big Fatty Lip Plumper didn't work for me. I saw no plumping and the clear with gold flecks is not a favorite shade of mine. I didn't even feel a tingle or a burn like I am used to with lip plumpers. My lips may have gotten slightly pinker for a while but that is it. The gloss does shine the lips and looks pretty over deeper lip colors but, as far as a lip plumper goes, it was a big disappointment. 2 stars.

Bog companies tend not to care about single consumers but the small ones go out of their way to make things right in general. I try to shop through small merchants to help them and because they tend to be nicer!

Oh yes! I use the plumping lipstick and I like it. I don't see tons of plumping but the shades are good, the little lines and creases are filled, and my lips look great. I need to get some more!

An hour to an hour and a half. Then your lips go back to being Cinderella. Or...something like that. ;)

Which product do you use? I have seen a few plumpers on Avon's site but have not used any. Maybe I'll try some.

I like DuWop Venom Lipgloss and City Lips but really, none do much as far as really plumping the lips. I just love the shades DuWop has and the way they look on me but I don't see a lot of plumping.

I sometimes email the link to my reviews or write a complaint but most don't care. Smaller companies seem to find my reviews and, if I give them high ratings, are super grateful and write nice letters of thanks. Most ignore my negative reviews.

Do you ever email your complaints or reviews to the companies that make them? Could be helpful and very interesting. My lips are a bit thinner now. Shots are out - I hate needles. Burning lips from plumpers - definitely reconsidering trying these. I can be something of a chicken when it comes pain. : ) Maybe I'll try the City Lips. Something weird just happen - hope you don't get a triple print of this.

I don't mind the sting. City Lips is one plumper that doesn't sting and works for me a little. None really work a lot though. I had one that hurt so bad that I felt like my lips were on fire. THAT is not a good thing. A little sting is fine, burns are NOT. They used chili peppers and wow. HOT! (And not in a good way!)

Haha. I value my teeth so I won't go there. Plump lips don't look pretty with missing front teeth. :)

How long do you lips stay plump if it works? ;>

A really great review! Congratulations! I can't say I'm very surprised about your lip plumper review Patty. This type of product usually results with a low graded product review. Ads & the fashion world constantly pressure us all to look perfect or like a movie star. I have tried many of these so-called lip pumpers. All of them fell short of doing anything noticeable to my already average lips. Judging from these companies' sexy high claims, my lips should have plumped up big time! It's clear that tons of advertisers out there are tempting us all with these false promises & magic beauty aids. These magical formulas & claims aren't worth the many thousands in cash that these companies profit from us trusting consumers. We're continuously baited & disappointmented too many times. There are many great items to be found, but I do agree that these lip pumpers aren't living up to expectations. If we do want bigger lips? We pay the price & agree to get injections, because that works & for a high price too! Plus, it's all temporary and in a few months you have to get more injections and the cycle can go on & on for the same high price. The only lasting way to have those fuller/bigger lips that stay is to have surgery implants. Oh my, then do we really want to go that far? That's permanent! Some of the things we might agree to do today, only are fashion statements. They are guaranteed to only fade in time from Vogue & the spotlights of society. Unless we have extremely tiny lips? I think we should stop all the insanity & be happy with what we have ladies. Look into that mirror and start liking ourselves again. It's ok to have smaller more natural lips and it's ok to be YOU! We are what we are and that makes us all unique individuals. PattyTherre this was an eye opening review and a job well done. It should be helpful to many of us ladies.

Thanks for the warning - and the laugh. I was tempted to try a lip plumper but wasn't sure since I sometimes have allergic reactions to various products. I don't think I want to have stinging lips. Were those plumpers worth the stings? Looks like you were generous giving two stars for this one.

Another good way to get plump lips is to say sumpin' 'bout my mama!

PattyTherre wrote on May 9, 2008 at 1:02AM

I once fell and slammed my mouth on concrete. My lips were gorgeous after they stopped bleeding but I don't think I want to do THAT trick again!

I find the best way to get plump lips is to walk into a wall, or raise up while laying under my truck. ;)
