Urban Canine - Chicago, IL Review

Urban Canine provides expert dog grooming services at very reasonable prices.  As most pet owners know, smaller dog 'boutiques' can be quite expensive and larger chains don't typically offer the same grooming expertise as small shops.  Urban Canine provides outstanding grooming services at palatable prices. 

Urban Canine is run by an ex ad guy - Tony Sauer - who wanted to devote his life to his true passion, dogs.  I really like that Tony is almost always there when I bring the dogs in - he even answers the phones when I call to make an appt. 

Urban Canine offers a variety of services from dog walking to dog grooming.  From a dog grooming perspective, Urban Canine offers professional grooming, self wash, canine massage, 'paw-dicures' and pick-up/drop-off services.  Our Shih Tzu usually gets the full service - bath, cut, nails and teeth brushing - total cost ~$45.  Our Pug gets a wash and nails for ~$25.  Relative to other places we've been to in Chicago, these prices are very competitive.  (I also like that they are very upfront with all pricing - clearly outlined by breed.)

I mostly adore Urban Canine because our Shih Tzu was given a very unfortunate hair cut elsewhere, and UC was able to fix it over the coarse of two cuts.  We've taken our dogs there for about a year now and every cut is consistently stellar.

My only complaint is that I wish they sold a few more products in their salon - more food and treats, but other than that, I would definitely recommend Urban Canine to other dog lovers.
