Most HelpfulBack in May, my two sons and I had seen the commercials for Disney Pixar's movie UP several times and it looked so colorful and fun that we all agreed that we wanted to see it as soon as it came out. We don't go to the theater too often because of the outrageous prices but this one seemed like it would...

Most HelpfulI saw the movie Up in theatres this weekend and first off I thought it was a good and cute movie. However, I was in the movie theatre with my boyfriend and about ten families that all had children about under the age of 10 and then about five families with children over or about the age of ten. ...

Up is a computer animated comedy-adventure starring the voice acting of Edward Asner, Christopher Plummer, Bob Peterson and Jordan Nagai.
I ended up going to see Up by default. I was planning to my kids to the dollar theater to see the Ice Age Three. We really enjoyed the first two Ice Age movies but for round three of a kids movie, I am willing to wait until it's a dollar a movie ticket. I ended up calling to invite my niece to join us and found out that she'd already seen Ice Age Three so I asked...
read full review »Pixar Animation Studios' UP is one of the reasons I bought a Blu-Ray player. The lastest, greatest visual feast cooked up by Pixar's animators dazzles with it's rich, layered textures that are as bright as the balloons carrying Carl's house to South America.
If you don't know by now that quality and Pixar are virtual synonyms, then you just haven't been paying attention. For, while the new animation is detailed and breath taking, they really take a back seat to the story.
UP, opens with a young Carl Fredrickson(voiced by Lou Grant, er Ed Asner) watching a MovieTone news real (excellently crafted...

Leave it to Disney to make lovable characters out of a hunchback, a beast, a lying puppet, a robot, and a rat. And now, a crusty old man and a chubby scout. The previews of Up were very amusing, and I knew like most Disney films it would be good, but I had no idea how fulfilling of an experience it would be. It was very dark at times, along with being funny, and the warmth that poured through was amazing.
We meet Carl Fredricksen (Jeremy Leary, Edward Asner) as a young boy, enchanted with aviation and balloons to the point of wearing goggles and an aviator's helmet. He's lucky enough to meet...
read full review »Although I have watched, perhaps, hundreds. if not thousands, of movies of all types (ranging from adult films to Z-grade Westerns) since the mid-1960s, I've never really been a fan of "family fare" or animated movies.
Perhaps this reluctance to like anything that smacks of kid-friendly fare stems from the razzing I suffered when, in the fifth grade, I remarked that I had gone to see Snow White and the Seven Dwarves when Walt Disney Pictures re-released it in theaters in one of those "once in a blue moon" Special Engagements. I, like many others before and since, had loved that first of the...
read full review »What does it say about the current slate of movies that after seeing around 30 since the first of the year the 3 best are 2 documentaries and an animated film?
I laughed more at "Up" then I did at "Night at the Museum", cried more than I did at any drama I have seen and certainly the action was more gripping than "Star Trek"!!!! Okay, so maybe I am exaggerating in the case of the later but Up was certainly more involving than Star Trek.
Watching Carl and Ellie's life together in a short montage tells more in than many two hour movies do. Carl...
read full review »Up is a great movie well worth paying the money to see in theaters, especially if you can see it in 3-D. Pixar truly does a wonderful job at creating this movie. Without giving the ending away, this comedy is about an old man Carl, who dreams all his life of a great adventure to South America. His method of transportation: his house. As a retired balloon salesman he has perfected the art of baloons and suspends his house by hunderds and hundreds of balloons. Carl then navigates his way to South America in search of his childhood dream destination. Carl may have intended to take this journey alone,...

**Spoiler ALERT!!!**
Up is soooo adorable! I love this movie so much. This little boy who never talks falls in love with exploring and meets a little girl who shares the same passion. They have many adventures and fall in love. It shows them over the years getting married and making great memories and then it shows them being very old and her dieing. This is very sad and the whole first part of the movie makes me cryyyy :(( But it's sooo cute! His house is in the middle of a construction zone and he will not sell. One day something happens and the old man ends up hurting another person and has...
read full review »I love movies, especially "kids" movies and Up is by far one of the best of any genre I've ever seen. It starts out with laughter and tears as you see Carl meet Ellie, a little girl with the same passion for adventure he has. It's their dream to go to South America (like America...only...SOUTH!) You watch them grow together and have the ups and downs any adults might have, always preventing them from going away to adventure, until Ellie passes away. All this happens in the first few minutes- then the adventures really begins!
This movie is so bright and colorful, with such beautiful music! ...
read full review »I thought that Up would be a dreary movie with dull colors and a slow storyline, but it was very colorful with a wonderful setting and hilarious characters. The trailers were not a very good view of the story, and for that reason I almost skipped out on the movie. I like Dug and Kevin, and Dug reminds me of our own dog. The jokes in the movie were actually really funny, and I laughed practically all through Up. The beginning was weird, but it gets better. The news reel was kind of cool, and I like the remodel on the house. Usually I go in and out of the living room when we're watching a...

I've paid full price to see this movie with an adult twice and once with my son. I can't wait until the DVD comes out! This is a movie for all different types of people - adults, kids, dog lovers, kids lovers, elderly lovers, etc. I still laugh just thinking about some of the parts. I think the movie did a good job of entertaining all ages, but it was also, in my opinion, successful in the following messages: 'The elderly are disregarded and disrespected in today's society. They are wise because of their experience. They have worked hard for what they have (or don't have). They...

When we watched it we had in attendence a two - year - old a six - year old my husband and sister in law watching the movie. There were parts that everyone laughed at. My sister in law made the comment on how it was a nice calm movie and didnt have censory overload as many childrens movies have these days. We...
read full review »Up is a charming animated movie for the young and young at heart! Ed Asner is perfect as the old curmudgeon whose crusty character is chiseled away little by little, but it is helpful to see how his character became that way over time. It is this part of the movie that seems to have more adult overtones and may be boring for younger viewers;however, if they can hold on a little longer, a myriad of adventures is waiting for them as the tale unfolds leading to a surprising conclusion. This is a movie well-worth seeing!
I just rented this movie the other night and my whole family sat down to watch it. What an outstanding movie. Just as cute as could be. It has been such a long time since I have seen a really top notch made movie. This one was up there with the best. And great for all age types. My whole family loved it. And how nice it was to see a nice fun enjoyable movie without sex and violence..........I hope this review will encourage you to run out and rent or buy this movie. It will definetley be in alot of stockings this Christmas!!!!!!!
