Most HelpfulBack in May, my two sons and I had seen the commercials for Disney Pixar's movie UP several times and it looked so colorful and fun that we all agreed that we wanted to see it as soon as it came out. We don't go to the theater too often because of the outrageous prices but this one seemed like it would...

Most HelpfulI saw the movie Up in theatres this weekend and first off I thought it was a good and cute movie. However, I was in the movie theatre with my boyfriend and about ten families that all had children about under the age of 10 and then about five families with children over or about the age of ten. ...

I ended up going to see Up by default. I was planning to my kids to the dollar theater to see the Ice Age Three. We really enjoyed the first two Ice Age movies but for round three of a kids movie, I am willing to wait until it's a dollar a movie ticket. I ended up calling to invite my niece to join us and found out that she'd already seen Ice Age Three so I asked...

Leave it to Disney to make lovable characters out of a hunchback, a beast, a lying puppet, a robot, and a rat. And now, a crusty old man and a chubby scout. The previews of Up were very amusing, and I knew like most Disney films it would be good, but I had no idea how fulfilling of an experience it would be. It was very dark at times, along with being funny, and the warmth that poured through was amazing.
We meet Carl Fredricksen (Jeremy Leary, Edward Asner) as a young boy, enchanted with aviation and balloons to the point of wearing goggles and an aviator's helmet. He's lucky enough to meet...
review »What does it say about the current slate of movies that after seeing around 30 since the first of the year the 3 best are 2 documentaries and an animated film?
I laughed more at "Up" then I did at "Night at the Museum", cried more than I did at any drama I have seen and certainly the action was more gripping than "Star Trek"!!!! Okay, so maybe I am exaggerating in the case of the later but Up was certainly more involving than Star Trek.
Watching Carl and Ellie's life together in a short montage tells more in than many two hour movies do. Carl...
review »Up is a great movie well worth paying the money to see in theaters, especially if you can see it in 3-D. Pixar truly does a wonderful job at creating this movie. Without giving the ending away, this comedy is about an old man Carl, who dreams all his life of a great adventure to South America. His method of transportation: his house. As a retired balloon salesman he has perfected the art of baloons and suspends his house by hunderds and hundreds of balloons. Carl then navigates his way to South America in search of his childhood dream destination. Carl may have intended to take this journey alone,...

Up is soooo adorable! I love this movie so much. This little boy who never talks falls in love with exploring and meets a little girl who shares the same passion. They have many adventures and fall in love. It shows them over the years getting married and making great memories and then it shows them being very old and her dieing. This is very sad and the whole first part of the movie makes me cryyyy :(( But it's sooo cute! His house is in the middle of a construction zone and he will not sell. One day something happens and the old man ends up hurting another person and has...
review »I've paid full price to see this movie with an adult twice and once with my son. I can't wait until the DVD comes out! This is a movie for all different types of people - adults, kids, dog lovers, kids lovers, elderly lovers, etc. I still laugh just thinking about some of the parts. I think the movie did a good job of entertaining all ages, but it was also, in my opinion, successful in the following messages: 'The elderly are disregarded and disrespected in today's society. They are wise because of their experience. They have worked hard for what they have (or don't have). They...
review »Up is a charming animated movie for the young and young at heart! Ed Asner is perfect as the old curmudgeon whose crusty character is chiseled away little by little, but it is helpful to see how his character became that way over time. It is this part of the movie that seems to have more adult overtones and may be boring for younger viewers;however, if they can hold on a little longer, a myriad of adventures is waiting for them as the tale unfolds leading to a surprising conclusion. This is a movie well-worth seeing!
Up,
was an entertaining movie- I enjoyed the Elderly Gentleman view point in contrast to that of the the young innocents of the little boy. The Elderly Man suffered though many unexpected disappointments that life does bring. And therefor unable to fulfill his wifes life long dream. However with a little help from the little boy he eventually said enough and fulfilled the dream anyway he could.
Such a great movie. It is funny, adventerous & exciting. The colors & graphics were great. The cast were perfect in each of their roles & it was a fun experience for my kids & my husband & myself. First kid movie that we have enjoyed with them since Toy Story came out last. A must see & must buy!
The movie UP was very entertaining not only for my daughter (age 9) but for me as well. The characters were well thought out and many faceted. The animation was really well done. The story isn't one that is told over and over again. It was nice to have a new theme for once in a child's movie!
