It was a lazy Sunday afternoon, nothing on TV, so I was flipping through the channels and came upon this show, Untold Stories of the ER on Discovery Health. Immediately, I was intrigued. I have always been a fan of medical dramas, especially the real stuff. It must have been a marathon or something because there were like 4 or 5 on in a row.

The Show
There are usually 3 different "stories" that they tell, simultaneously. Throughout the telling of these stories they are reenacting the actual events, sometimes they even have the real patients as the actors. They are also interviewing the attending Dr's, nurses, patients, and family/friends of the patients. It's all very dramatic and entertaining. Sometimes it's even funny! But, I warn you, it is not for the weak of heart....or stomach. I don't have a weak stomach, but, I had to look away a few times!

My Take
I work in a hospital, though, not as a nurse or physician. I am only in the office, but, even there I have had patients collapse in the lobby, children having seizures, we have even had babies born in the lobby!!! (I guess that is why I am so fascinated with medicine and the trauma shows that are on!) I don't directly work in the ER and the hospital I work at is small and in a rural area, but, after watching this show, I am truly awed at how calm the staffs were, and while most nights are probably not as exciting as these show depicted, the staff of the ER's are highly trained to face traumas, big or small, stay calm, do their jobs and save lives. It's fascinating watching them at work (even if it was a reenactment! lol). I have a whole new respect for the ER nurses and physicians I work with!

This show is about what really happens in the ER when they are faced with life and death. It's exciting, dramatic, and real.....just what I like for a rainy, lazy Sunday afternoon!

My husband will watch some with me but when they get gory, he reads. lol. I like it. I am just fascinated by the medical world and how they do what they do.

Me too! I work in a hospital, though, not as a nurse. I am fascinated with all the medical shows though. My hubby gets so grossed out, and can't believe I watch all of that stuff when I'm eating, lol, but, I love it!

I watch this all the time. It can be pretty tough to watch at times but I am fascinated with the medical industry and how things go down in emergencies. I watch all the real medical shows in the Discovery Channel.

I saw the previews, but not the show. Glad you enjoy it.
