Most HelpfulIf you are self-motivated, the University of Phoenix online is a great way to finish up your education. Classes are five weeks long so the pace really moves quickly. Most students take one class at a time with a week break in between each class. During my time at UoP, I doubled up on classes, staggering...

Most HelpfulSeveral years ago, I tried University of Phoenix on-line. I had the intention of getting my Masters in Business. Definitely not a cake walk, that most people think. I found the course I was in harder to work in than a"normal" classroom setting. You are placed in teams and if one person does all the...

The advisor that I was put in contact with was very helpful and walked me through admissions step-by-step, which was great, because I didn't have a clue about how to get through the process. I was going in to get my associates degree in business and possibly to go on and get my bachelors. I was very excited about starting school again.
The classes were...

It's like getting your Masters via independent study, except that nearly half your grade depends on projects you must complete with your "learning team." Sometimes you get to choose the other members of your learning team; other times they are assigned to you by the instructor. Either way, there always seems to be at least one slacker who does not contribute, but still gets the same grade as the rest...
read full review »I inquired about an advanced degree in health administration. I had several questions that I put to the admissions representative on-line and requested answers. All she would do is tell me to come in and visit the campus, a 190-mile round trip through nasty traffic. She never answered the questions, but continued to call and e-mail me several more times about enrolling. The tuition costs are astronomical with no concrete assistance in job placement at the end of the program.
Separate experience I learned of after my own experience: A friend went through their elementary school teacher...

When I applied at this university I was led to understand that I would finish up within 2 years, but 3 years later my advisor told me I needed more classes. I started taking coursework with 3 friends, all of whom have switched to other schools.
Although classes met one night per week, I had to work with a team outside of class which was very time consuming and problematic. Not only was it very difficult to rearrange our schedules to meet, I also received a low grades in some...
read full review »I did my Masters with UOP and was skeptical at first, however, once I got started, I realized that this was for me. I love working independently and didn't have the time to sit in a classroom after working all day. For me, coming home and spending each night online fit my lifestyle. My wife was extremely supportive during the 2 years I spent online and more or less left me alone to do the papers and participate every night in classroom discussions.
The payoff? I would not have the job I currently have if it weren't for UOP and the program that was available. My job required a Masters in Education...

It was easy to get accepted and enrolled in the MBA program. I had one counselor for the enrollment process and he was easily accessible. I can't remember the exact cost but I remember that it was A LOT. I'm sure you are paying for the convenience too. From what I've...

It has turned out to be a good experience, I have enjoyed my courses so far and have an A average going.
Not everything is easy, but I've learned so much and can't wait to finish my degree.
I would recommend University of Phoenix to anyone who wants to go back to school and needs flexibility.
