Oh UCSD. To start off with, if you're looking for the movie "college experience" UCSD is not the place to find it. While most students complain about the seemingly socially dead campus, there are actually some fun things to do at UCSD. The party scene definitely exists for those brave enough to seek it out. At UCSD we have a lot of students who lack the social skills to find it. While you do not have to be greek to have a good time, it definitely helps to pay the 900 dollars a year to have an abundant flow of social activities to part take it. If you think that this sounds like what you see in the movies, here is the primary difference-almost everyone is ridiculously smart. Why? well if the incoming class statistics are right, at this school we have the top students from every high school in California. That means that the kids with the huge backpacks who stay after school for fun and do extra credit when they already have 100% in the class all go here ( UC's primarily look at GPA and SAT's). Like most colleges, no one makes you or cares if you come to class. Specially not when there are 500 students in one lecture hall. However, if you chose to get lost in the party/drug scene, and fail all your classes, you will get kicked out. So to sum it all up, UCSD appears socially dead and misfortunate, but if you have any social skills, you should have no trouble finding a good time and some very chill normal people. And not everyone is super smart, but if you are any kind of engineering of science major, then good luck at balancing the extreme nerdyness of UCSD and the much sought of college experience.
On a final note, there are too many things to write about so check out the cons to see many of the other things wrong at UCSD. I love it because of the people I met and my experience, but this place is sucks in a lot of ways
