University of California-Berkeley Review Summary

University of California- Berkeley is considered one of the Ivy League schools of the West and reviewers agree that this university is one of the finest educational institutions anywhere in the United States. The incredible academic reputation is the main reason students choose the University of California- Berkeley, but reviewers point out other good reasons to attend here, like the highly diverse social scene, the incredible professors, the excellent sports, and the strong sense of activism among the students. “Cal Berkeley is the Total Package University Experience” in the mind of one student and another says it’s an “Amazing School to Go to”. The University of California- Berkeley can be expensive for out of state residents but when you consider the high national rankings and the solid academic reputation, the University of California- Berkeley is a College or University that is difficult to match.

University of California Berkeley is considered to be the #1 public university in the United States. I truly enjoyed my years there because I got a balance of serious academic standards and a great social scene. Berkeley is it's own community, everyone you see around you is also a student and therefore you know what everyone is going through. Berkeley is a very difficult school academically, but you learn to appreciate that and learn that you worked hard to get your diploma. They have so many school organizations you can join the most prestige group or even join a rubber-band club. It...

The University of Calfornia, Berkeley is a decent school.  In many fields, it has a good reputation.  The school overall also has a good reputation.

Some problems include that they don't baby sit you much.  If you need recommendation letters, some friends at other schools seemed to get them easier.  Maybe Berkeley professors are not customer friendly?

It's not a party school.  A's are hard to get but if you make a reasonable effort, you will not flunk out because they don't give out too many F's except to really poor performers.  I was clueless in one advanced course and managed to get...

My experience at the University of California - Berkeley was an invaluable one both from an academic and "life experience" standpoint.  I not only received an outstanding education from some of the finest professors in the country, but also experienced the diverse and varied cultural experience of campus life, from seeing Hari Krishnas chanting and dancing to attending Cal football, basketball, baseball and other sporting events, as well as having art, music, literature and political activity everywhere I looked.  The student body was extremely diverse, and I met students from all over the world.... review »

I went to a job interview recently where the minimum education requirement was a bachelor's, or to be a current Cal undergrad. I got the job! =)
