I always thought that good coaching was to make the athlete reach for their best and believe in themselves. (and of course win. I was a coach for 28 years). That a good baseball team would be built on honesty, strength of character and good skills. You don't get anyone to reach for their best by brutalizing them. I saw great kids become worse, not better players. I saw confident, high quality kids question themselves constantly and literally become depressed and demoralized. It was a horrible shock to think that any collegiate coaching staff would be so degrading to its team. That anyone who claimed to have kids' interests at heart fill their ears with obscenities and tear them down. That is not how you make a great team. Letting kids get ahead because of any dishonest actions doesn't build a great team. That is how you create the kind of athlete that believes women owe them something and that using anyone who is in your way to get to the top is a-ok. I am no fan of Arizona baseball any more.
