I recently went to Universal Studios in Los Angeles, CA, and loved every minute of it.
After I paid my $90-something fee (plus $30 for a VIP pass that got me to the front of every line - worth every penny!) I went straight to the studio tour. Strike that - After I was interviewed by Jay Leno doing a JayWalking taping right by the entrance - I went to the studio tour.
We went on a trolley car that took us thru the War of the Worlds set, the streets of New York where many movies were made and the King Kong Skull Island set. We didn't get to drive thru Wisteria Lane where Desperate Housewives because they were filming. Bummer.
The tour was really cool; lots of Hollywood tidbits. Universal Studios staff even warn you that you may see celebs on location during your tour - unfortunately I saw zero.
After the tour, we hit the rides. What a blast! The Waterworld sound stage was definately my favorite. You enter Waterworld as they put on a show for you based off the movie. You do not leave this set dry! We were soaked; they hose you down, throw buckets of water on you, and if you are in the front row like I was - you are drenched by a plane landing in the water tank at the end. I loved it!
Jurrassic Park was also a great raft ride; I went thru it twice thanks to my VIP pass - again worth every penny. The Mummy roller coaster was also a favorite.
The only ride I didn't like was Back to the Future - I think I got whiplash from flopping around in a car to catch Biff or Buff or whoever that jerk was on the screen in front of me.
This is great for anyone. If I get back to LA, I am definately going back to Universal Studios.
