Universal Lighting Touch Table Lamp - Polished Brass Review

As silly as it sounds, I have always wanted a touch lamp.  My mother in law had touch lamps in her living room, but they were big and bulky and not very nice to look at.  I knew I didn't want a lamp that looked like hers, but I always liked the way they came on with just a light touch of the hand. 

My birthday is this month, and I mentioned that I would like a touch lamp for the bedroom.  I imagined reading a book before bed, and being able to just reach over and touch the lamp to turn it on and off, instead of fumbling around for the control knob.  My brother gave me my birthday present early, and presented me with a beautiful Universal Lighting Touch Table Lamp.  It is so pretty, so elegant, and very feminine.  It is absolutely PERFECT!

My Universal Lighting Touch Table Lamp has an attractive polished brass finish on the base, meaning that it has a gold-tone finish that is shiny to look at.  It comes with a delicate glass lampshade that has been etched with pretty flowers.  The glass lampshade is scalloped at the bottom, which just adds to the feminine appearance.  The lamp is topped with a pretty polished brass decorative finial, which adds a little bit of height to the overall appearance of the table lamp.

This lamp looks so pretty on my bedside table.  Because it is made of polished brass and glass, it will really fit in with any home decor.  It's delicate and will easily break, so I would not recommend it to be placed in a child's bedroom.  It is not too big, measuring in at approximately 15", but it does put out three different levels of light.  It would look nice as a small light source in a living room, and it works perfectly as a reading light in the bedroom.  This lamp is EXACTLY what I wanted it to be functionally, but it is much more than I expected it to be in appearance.

Some people may consider the fact that this lamp needs to be assembled a CON, but it is actually very simple to do.  Since this was an early birthday gift for me, I did not actually assemble it myself, but I did watch as my brother did it for me and it did not take him very long to do at all.  I was worried that because some of the pieces were made of glass, that some of the pieces may have been broken, but they were packaged very securely in the box and they were all in tact.

As soon as it was fully assembled, and the light bulb was screwed in, we placed it on my bed side table.  It looked beautiful!  When you turn it on, a pretty shadow shines on the wall in the pattern of the etched glass.  The light can be very low and dim, or you can touch the lamp until it is on high power, which is the PERFECT setting if you want to read in bed beside the lamp.

When I was breaking the box apart that the touch lamp came in, I stumbled across the receipt.  I felt a little guilty looking at the price, but I knew I would want to write a review on the lamp anyway, so I peeked to see the price.  I could not believe what a deal my brother got on my birthday lamp!!!  GOOD FOR HIM!  He paid less than $ 30.00 for the Universal Lighting Touch Table Lamp!  I couldn't believe what a great deal that was.  When you look at the lamp, it certainly does not look like an inexpensive lamp.  I was so excited at the low price of my lamp that I went online and purchased another one to set on my other bed side table.

I am not aware if this particular touch lamp is available in stores.  My brother purchased it for me at Amazon, and that is where I went to buy the second one for the other bed side table.  It shipped to me quickly and everything arrived in one piece.  My husband put my second one together quickly, and it looks just as nice as the first one.  Now I have a matching set of Universal Lighting Touch Table Lamp!  - And it's not even my birthday yet!

Bottom Line - Yes, the Universal Lighting Touch Table Lamp is highly recommended.  It is delicate, it's pretty, it's easy to use, and it puts out just the right amount of light.  If you are looking for a gift idea, I think that this would be a great idea.  I know that I was thrilled to receive it!  Since it is available at such an affordable price (less than $ 30.00), but looks like it would cost a lot more, even people with high standards would appreciate the beauty and functionality of this great product.
