INSIDIOUS

Permanently physically disabled with degenerative lumbar sacral spine conditions and degenerative cervical spine conditions.Older individual and UHC my insurance from 2012 through December2014.All stated my only opinions.UHC paid for treatments because they did NOT want to pay for treatments. They wanted the medical records and treatments to actually reflect that I was cured, or had nothing physically wrong with me!! They had hired gun type providers and their cronies covering for them to skew, manipulate and lie, from somewhat to severely, making some of my medical records worthless. To the point of OBLITERATING all of my physical diagnoses and FABRICATING ludicrous false information. UHC paid providers to do things the way UHC wanted them to do.What would even motivate UHC to do that in the first place?TOO numerous all the incidents to write here.I did a lot fax, mail with proofs, copy and rebring all medical conditions and treatments paperwork in, that was already IN my records in first place, and they would be deleted and ignored again by providers UHC paid for.I made formal paperwork amendments requests, with proofsent, and those ignored as well. The straw was when I made a provider complaint on a physical therapist and contents of her records corrupting and changing a physical therapy sessions that I had for plantar fascitis both feet. It was not the treatment I got, it was that the agenda was changed in records, and exercises obviously inaproppiate for my diagnosed spine conditions, had actually been put that I was performing these as home exercises and in the sessions, that I never did. LAST day P.T. had me do once and got low back spine ache from, irritated l5s1, and never did again.Inapropriate for plantar fascitis referral diagnosis as well. How obnoxious and repulsive a prank to pull.October 24,2014 I got the dated letter on the verbal over phone complaint I made on this physical therapist.I made it only on this one person physical therapist. Well, the complaint had her name on it but put she was a doctor and the paragraph on complaint had disinformation on the complaint, with only a bit or piece of what I said over phone. I had a case number and sent by fax and mailed UHC same letters I faxed on issue with the case number, ONE case number. Nov,2,2014 faxed last info correcting complaint error was.Got right after phone message from UHC service coordinator on nov.3 and 4,2014,to call about nonexistant complaint I never made. So I saw they bias and part of this stuff all along! BAD SCENE. I never called UHC again and last call was october27,2014 about the complaint.I looked to get off of UHC. Then got in mail dated letters. Nov.4,7,17,25,2014, letters from UHC impersonating me, that I made four provider complaint appeal requests I never made. I faxed UHC in Nov.2014 to send me all these files, and put the casenumbers on, and for them to correct as I not make. NO phone, fax or written contact made for either obviously. UHC ignore, just got more. Fifth one was Dec.5,2014.Five FAKE reports all with five different case numbers, like I am nut job making same complaints over and over mind games, that UHC indicated they put in my patient I.D.files! I tried by third parties to get them out these files and not able. Never heard back fro initial P.T. complaint at all, UHC blew it off and retaliated by hoaxing my med records up more with defamatory stuff. The files in TEXAS system, trying to get out but not given or told how to get.Ignored unacknowledged when tried to get. I dropped UHC December 2014.INSIDIOUS insurance to say the least!!

Really good health insurance

My husband's company used to have this insurance and I was very sad when they decided to switch companies. Customer Service Their customer service does help a lot. We had an issue where I had to go to the emergency room. The emergency room doctor billed me and the insurance company sent me a check to cover the visit. They explained to me that, that particular doctor's office automatically billed the patient whether they had insurance or not. Then I would have to get a hold of the insurance company to get the money. They explained everything very thoroughly and I was happy about that. Available Plans When we had this insurance I got pregnant, had to see a chiropractor, and had another child who had to go to the doctor for physicals. I was able to see all of our doctors because they were all covered under this insurance. I was very happy. The plan covered my pregnancy and then we got to add my daughter and it covered her medical care, it covered my son's care and anything else we needed.

Horrible Coverage

I was in the market for individual coverage after switching employers. I found United Health Care at first, but later found it lacking. I knew that I planned to get pregnant in the future, but wasn't sure when, so I signed up for maternity coverage, paying an extra amount in addition to my premium each month. Two years later, when I gave birth, I learned that they only covered a percentage of the $2500 that they listed in the plan which equaled a whopping $2000. That didn't even cover my prenatal visits. Everything else was out of pocket and did not even go toward my deductible. This made no sense to me. I had a high deductible of $10,000, but my maternity bills would have satisfied that. Instead, I spent around $18,000 for the birth and nothing after that initial $2,000 was covered. This is not at all how the policy was presented to me. If I would have known these details, I would have chosen a different company. Live and learn, I guess.

This insurance company seems determined to not pay for services.

While I understand there are always exceptions to care, it seems in my few months of dealing with this company that they purposefully look for ways to find exceptions. Customer Service I recently contacted them about covering midwifery services during my pregnancy. I spoke to multiple customer service representatives over the course of my appeals, and I would often get conflicting information. One time, I was even told they would call me back to answer my question. However, I did not receive that call. Available Plans I currently have a decent plan that includes a high deductible. My employer does self-insure above a certain amount to reduce our deductible some. There are certain parts of the plan that good, but a good majority does not cover much. Having worked with insurance and billing in the medical field, I have noticed that usually United Healthcare has OK coverage across varying plans. That being said, there are other insurance companies out there that provide more appealing plans, like Blue Cross Blue Shield.

United Health Care Advantage Plan nice till you need them.

If it were possible, I'd give this Medicare Advantage Plan a zero! I had no difficulty years ago with the Employer Sponsored Health Plan as they were being paid by my employer to represent their employees. That seems to be the BEST way to get the insurance to work. However, after I quit working I went to the Medicare AARP UnitedHealthcare Advantage Plans. The reps you call when you sign up were very helpful, although rushed. They answered all my questions carefully and took my money. Then I hurt my hip and the problems started. The hip problem was ligit, no worker's comp or accident. Got so bad it was obvious the bone was sticking out but despite even the hospital ER pleas, they would not authorize an MRI. I went through the third level of appeal and WON my case to get an MRI, but by this time months had passed and the ligaments were permanently torn. Customer Service They were very confrontational in the call center. Not everyone spoke clear English. Seems they all had a chip on their shoulder and were abrupt even before I started speaking. They denied claims that were clearly their responsibility, only to necessitate having to call the claims center many times, re-submit paperwork and get them to pay. I finally gave up and went on my husbands BCBS shield plan backdated to 7/1. UHC had the nerve to call every one of my doctors and ask for their money back.. which they got even though UHC was responsible. Available Plans I don't know about the LTD or STD plans, but I had experience with both the employer based plan and the Medicare Advantage side of UnitedHealthCare. Let's hope they aren't our only choice ever again.

Not my favorite health insurance company

I have had a mixed relationship with United Healthcare Insurance. On the one hand they are usually friendly and responsive when I call but on the other hand no provider wants to take United Healthcare Insurance because they not only have lousy reimbursement rates but they also run the provider through so many hoops and then when they finally do keep persisting in getting paid United Healthcare Insurance pays them a very small amount. I always feel apologetic when I have to tell a provider that I am a United Healthcare Insurance customer. I do wish that we could all just have some version of Medicare and get rid of this middleman routine. The doctors all have to have full time people on staff just to wrestle with the insurance company and I don't think that is a wise use of our healthcare dollar really... My company switched to an HSA recently and we have to pay the first three thousand dollars of all medical bills. This is supposed to be cheaper and the premiums were cheaper through work but then when we got laid off the premiums are shockingly high, (like about sixteen hundred dollars a month for a family plan). I don't know where the money goes, other than to pay the doctor's staff to fight with the insurance company.

I have had this insurance through my husands employer for over ten years and it has been a very good company to deal with. My MD vists are paid in a good time frame so I donot have to worry about getting bills from the MD. The coverage has been very good , and every MD I must see is on it but I can also opt to go out of sytem and in most cases would still be covered. Most of my specialist are also happy with the policy from what the office staff tells me-which is a good sign. Customer Service Most of the customer service agents are very polite and seem to know the answers and if not try to find out for you. Sometimes the wait is longer than I would like but that seems to be a fact of life so I have learned to deal with it.

United health care offers the perfect plan for everyone

Insurance companies all seem to be making changes and many times it is difficult to know what is covered and what is not. United Health Care like so many other insurance companies seems to be making changes in their policies as well. Thus far I would still rate the coverage and customer service high above their competitors. This companies staff is trained and qualified to offer council in health questions and the Coverage seems to fit the needs of our household. Their helpful nursing staff can and does answer many questions that you forget to ask of the doctor while in the office. This trained staff is not only is courteous, helpful but goes that one mile more for their customers. Available Plans United Health Care offers several plans and while that can certainly be confusing, they do have staff that will try to help you understand the difference in plans so that you can get the best policies for you and your family

Immoral Company to say the least

1

My daughter was on the same items every month. Atleast once ever 4 months they denied the claim (despite pre-approval) just to see if I would pay it. They also changed the rule thta we needed an Rx every 6 months (instead of every year) without telling us and tried to use that as an excuse to deny us. I spoke to someone every week for several hours. Absolutely immoral! I also spoke to an ex-employee that said they deny on purpose because so many people just pay it. Horrible!! Customer Service It takes hours to get anything done.

Insurance companies are easy prey to being hated.  I don't want to jump on the bandwagon.  However, I think United Healthcare could deserve it. United Healthcare refused to pay my doctor because there was a problem and the doctor was not able to bill them until just past 90 days.  United Healthcare claimed that was too old and refused to pay.  In contrast, the doctor tells me that Medicare allows them to bill for up to 1 year, which is more reasonable. After that, I talked with my doctor about United Healthcare and got an earful.  It seems that the doctor's office has to call because United Healthcare's website doesn't give complete information.  Then when they call, United Healthcare transfers calls to India where the operators are of low quality and can't answer some question.  I saw for myself how long it took for the Indian call center to answer.  It would have been faster to walk to India (not quite!)
