Chase United card Fee for foreign purchases, high finance charge

United Airlines - Mileage Plus Visa Credit Card —
Was a loyal cardholder for many years - over $40,000 per year in spending on the card. I was late for ONE payment after years - called them on my own when I discovered the error, even wire transferred the payment instantly - they still stuck me with over $200 in finance charges which they would not re-consider. Finally, they agreed to reduce them by half of one of the 2 finance charges. They did not seem to understand that they were losing a loyal and high volume customer, so I canceled the card.
