Uniden - EXP4540 Review

My beloved old Uniden cordless phone finally died. That phone served me well for over five years including being dropped many times. It always sounded good and the battery lasted forever. But when I needed a new battery and one of the keys was getting funky I decided to replace it with another Uniden. The equivalent model at Wal Mart was less than $10.00 so I thought "score" and home it went. Unfortunately the handset has inferior sound. It seems to pick up and amplify any other sounds in my house like the dishwasher and TV. Sometimes I get a sound almost like the wind blowing in the background behind the voice of whoever I'm listening to. It's very annoying. I did go to Wal Mart and look at the other choices, thinking I'd return it and use the refund towards a better phone, but upgrading would have involved at least $40 more bucks so I'm making do with the windy handset. If you're looking to buy a cordless and can afford a better phone I'd steer clear of the inexpensive one I bought.
