Researching is my game when it comes to needing a new item. And research is what I did when I needed a new phone system. What surprised me was that when I went to purchase something else I saw the Uniden Dect2080. It was so new at the time that there was no reviews on it yet other than what it was suppose to do. It does all that it says it will do and then some.
The first thing that caught my attention when I saw this in the store was the "Interference Free" on the box. That in itself was a big plus because of the various "wireless" electronics we have in the house. I can honestly say that there has been no interference that I can detect at all. Check that up as a positive!
The second feature that grabbed my attention was that all I had to do was have the base plugged into the phone wire and the other handsets just plugged into an electrical outlet. YAHOO! I live in an older ranch house that has a total of two phone jacks. I can handle "just plug and go". Two positives thus far.
Next on the agenda was how many handsets can I add to the base? WOW, I can add up to six. Can even put one in the bathroom if I want. Ok, seriously, this was nice because many phones can only have 3-4 handsets added. I bought the base that had two extra handsets and added two more. Thus I had a grand total of five rooms covered.
Something that most people don't do when they purchase a phone is try it on for size. I pulled the handset out of the box to see how it "fit" in my hand. I liked the feel of the phone. It is not big and cumbersome nor to small and awkward. It fit very comfortably up against my ear and in my hand.
The price was quite reasonable for what I was getting. I ordered online and everything was under $135.00.
Now that the basics of what I needed were met, the true test was yet to be seen - or should I saw heard? Sound quality. The quality of the sound was beyond belief. I have never had a phone that sounded so good. It just doesn't get any better. Ok, I was totally sold and knew that this phone was a keeper.
There are other features to this phone which include caller ID, answering machine, phone number storage, belt clip, speakerphone (is very good), can transfer numbers from handset to handset without re-entering individually and my favorite - the intercom. When using the intercom you can call all handsets or just a particular room.
With all that is good about this phone there was only one bad thing that I have come across and that is in storing a long distance number from the caller ID. There is not an automatic built in "1" so thus you have to actually re-enter the number manually if it is a number that is a long distance number.
Overall I am very pleased with this phone system and feel that it is a good deal financially and in quality. Now if it would only do the dishes!
