Finally!! For those who have followed the Underworld movies since the first one, Rise of the Lycans as satisfying as it gets!
In the original Underworld, I found myself wanting...more. More action, bigger, badder werewolves, more aggressive and tougher vampires - I was a bit disappointed in the weakness of both races. And when Michael became a hybrid between the two, I expected him to be the Ultimate fighter. Wrong. He was tough enough to beat Viktor, but he just didn't look as impressive as I thought he should. I mean, shouldn't he have been like twice the others' size?

review »I had to see Underworld: Rise of the Lycans the day it came out in the theater. I hope they don't stop this wonderful saga. The story was great, it is a prequel to Underworld and Underworld Evolution. I kept reading reviews that people were so disappointed that Kate Beckinsale wasn't in this movie, and I admit that I was a little disappointed, but you can't have Selene in the prequel which tells the story of the beginning feud between lycans and vampires. After watching Rise of the Lycans, I was happy that Rhona Mitra played Sonya, she did an awesome job and it makes the story line fall...

I watched the first 2 Underworld movies on DVD and I must admit that while I enjoyed them a great deal I had to watch each one twice to catch all the plot twists. Even then there was some "history" behind those 2 stories that I did not fully understand.
Underworld: Rise of the Lycans does an excellent job of filling in the details and gives even more depth to some of the characters you meet in the first 2 movies - which I definitely plan to go back and watch again now!
Definitely and R movie though - very brief (but pretty explicit) sex scene and of course lots of gory killing plus some whipping...
