I love rice. I like the taste and versatility of the grain and the fact that it is easy to prepare. The Uncle Ben's brand has always been my favorite; I like the way it cooks up; i.e. each grain, if cooked right, is a separate blast of tasty goodness. In other words, it does not stick together; I detest sticky rice, except in my local Chinese food container.
So I was thrilled when Uncle Ben's release a new line of microwavable rice's in individual and family sized pouches, one of which is Uncle Ben's Whole Grain Brown Ready Rice.
My Viewpoint
Uncle Ben's Whole Grain Brown Ready Rice makes a great side dish for almost any meat and vegetable, but I like to pair it with either beef of salmon. The 8.8oz package packs a fair amount of flavor, but at one two one cup servings is really only adequate for two, or three. Uncle Ben's distributed by Mars Food Co., also markets a 14.8 "Family Size" package.
Yes, I enjoy white rice, but whole grain brown rice is better for you and Uncle Ben's Whole Grain Brown Ready Rice provides some (2) grams dietary fiber, and (0) grams of saturated fat. One can eat the rice alone, or you can sprinkle some cheddar or parmesan cheese on top. Regardless of how you eat Uncle Ben's Whole Grain Brown Ready Rice, have some; it's cheap ($1.52 per 8.8oz package) and ($2.72 per 14.8oz package) at your local Super Target, and it's good for you.
