About the Ultralux 55 Watt Replacement Bulb
This bulb is inexpensive and a total necessity for those with the lamp. For under $30.00, you can get at least 18 months to two years worth of daily light therapy or a year of using the lamp for hours as a desk lamp. This bulb is actually four tubular ones hooked together with a plastic square at the end. To insert, just pull out the old bulb and push in the new one, plastic end in. You will hear a click when the bulb is secured. These bulbs should be "burned in" for a while before actual use. I turn my lamp on and let it stay on for about an hour. Then I use it as normal. The reason for this is because, if you don't burn these bulbs in, they could flicker and that is mind numbingly annoying. These bulbs do NOT flicker if they are burned in and, even when they aren't, I have never seen them flicker at all. This bulb gives off up to 55 Watts of full spectrum white lighting and is essential to SAD sufferers who are using the lamp for daily light therapy. It is also necessary to use the lamp as an everyday desk lamp. This is a simple, fairly inexpensive bulb that will keep you feeling good all winter when the winter blahs or SAD sets in. Don't be without a spare!
My Viewpoint
This bulb is essential if you have the lamp. Luckily, the bulbs last for ages and you will rarely need a replacement but, if you do, you need to get this one if you have the lamp of the same name. It is the brightest, whitest full spectrum bulb and it fits the lamp perfectly. It's super easy to install and it will last for months, even years. 5 stars for being there when I needed it!
