I purchased my first pair of Uggs three winters ago. The purchase was not based upon making a fashion statement or because everyone has them, but I truly needed something to keep my feet warm in the winter since I pretty much work outdoors.
Uggs are made from sheepskin. The sheepskin naturally keeps your feet warm and insulated. You can wear Uggs on the coldest day and your feet will be warm or you can wear them on the hottest day and your feet won't sweat. The proper way to wear Uggs is without socks.
Uggs should not be worn in the rain or snow. Ugg makes a water repellent, but I found it did not do the job. They will stain if they get wet, and they will smell.
When I first tried them on I immediately knew they were for me. The next morning it was 3 degrees out when I went to work and my feet were, finally, warm! I wore them all winter.
The next winter I again wore them almost everyday. I wore them until they finally bit the dust and couldn't be worn again. So, I gave them a proper burial and figured I'll get another pair in the fall.
The fall came and I went into a panic. I could not get Uggs anywhere; even the manufacturer was out of them. The Manufacturer had an anticipated delivery date of spring 2008. These boots became highly demanded. Leave it to me, I found a shop locally that had my size and color....whew! That was close!
Last winter my Uggs were faithfully on my feet and my feet thanked me.
Recently I was out shopping and found Ugg Thong Sandals. I wouldn't splurge. The sandals cost about $80.00. Ugg boots cost about $120.00. This is the price you will pay from the manufacturer or any of the department stores that carry them. Use caution, these boots have been known to go for $300.00 on eBay. If you use a little ingenuity, you will find them and not pay top dollar for them.
