Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon Review

I wanted to save money by using Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon, and it worked great for awhile. I was using this operating system on my office desktop computer. If you are traditionally a Window's user, it takes quite a bit of getting used to.

I am a biologist, so I use many programs that are written by other scientists who are not paid to do so, so most programs are only written for Mac or Windows. One of the most vital programs I needed to run was only written for Mac, Windows, and Linux Red Hat version. I even tried to run the Windows emulator for Ubuntu, but the program still would not run. I finally had to break down and buy Windows, which I did not want to do. 

If you just need an operating system to run do everyday tasks like checking e-mail, word processing, or things like that, I would say that Ubuntu is a perfect choice. It just did not work for me because I have more specific needs.

The best part about this operating system is that it is free!
