USAA Banking and Insurance Review Summary

Many insurance companies have a mixed reputation, but one company that continues to satisfy its customers is USAA Insurance, an insurance company that offers various types of insurance, including auto, life, and home. USAA Insurance also offers banking and credit cards, making it one of the most well- rounded financial service providers. Reviewers praise USAA Insurance and Banking, with such flattering statements as: “I Wouldn’t Trust Anyone Else”, and “Excellence in Service, Coverage, and Policy Holder Support”. The customer service and online access are excellent, and reviewers appreciate the fact that USAA Insurance doesn’t push members to buy additional services they don’t need. USAA Insurance is limited to families or individuals with a military connection, so not everyone can buy USAA Insurance services. But those who qualify consider USAA Insurance one of the best Insurance Companies in the USA.

Many people think of USAA as just an insurance company but they offer so much more. USAA offers reward-based credit cards, banking services, insurance, car financing, and investments! They are truly a one-stop shop for all of your financial/insurance needs. The USAA staff is always highly professional... review »

In May of 2005, while waiting at a stop-light, I was rear-ended by an intoxicated man. Not only was he arrested for drunk driving, but a police officer witnessed the accident.

The driver's insurance paid immediately. The ironic part of this is, MY insurance isn't so willing. Let me give a little background...

USAA automobile insurance was initially for military officers only (but open to all military members and fam now). My dad went to the Naval Academy and served during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He completed his term right before troops were "frozen" for Vietnam.

Since my dad had USAA, all family members could also sign up. I was on my dad's policy when I was a kid, and I continued my service when I "grew up."

My first "accident" as an adult with own policy was an uninsured motorist hitting me head on an totaling my 1968 Mustang (and - no I did not buy it new - I'm not that old). My dad explained that...

We have been USAA customers since my husband joined the AF 20 years ago. We have had accidents and tickets and had a car stolen in Italy. We have used the free towing service and the door unlock service. Our rates have remained the same and we have always recieved amazing personal service from the friendly USAA reps. We brag so much many family members have tried to find away around the military loop hole. We love USAA and would never change even as we retire.

I have USAA now, but before I did I was hit by another car (for the 12th time). Fortunately, she had USAA. Not only did they pay for a rental, pay for the damages, and pay for the medical treatment I received, they also gave me a couple of hundred dollars "walking around money" because of the pain and suffering of the damage to me and my car. I was so surprised I didn't know what to do.

They're also the most affordable insurance I've ever had. There's no question any more; I don't stick with the minimum insurance. I have complete coverage that I can afford.

USAA is an excellent overall insurer. The company has online and telephone service and easy handles people in the US Military and authorized members. I found the rates for home-renters-auto-life all very well priced at the lower end of the scale. House claims however are very easy to file but they shift the burden to the claimer. Police reports, estimates, and even proof of ownership is asked when making a claim. It is often hard to show a picture or come up with a receipt from a past purchase after a fire, flood, or if it was stolen. USAA should warn new insurers of this requirement. I was very...

United Services Auto Association (USAA) is far and way the best insurance company in the world, bar none.

I guess that's a bit of hyperbole. But I can't think of any organization I have dealt with that is more entitled to a rave.

I became a member of USAA when I was an officer in the US Air Force in the late 1950s. 50+plus years has given me ample opportunity to test the performance of USAA. They have never let me down.

USAA was founded as an insurance exchange to cover the needs of US military officers. The premise appeared to be that the risk of coverage on military bases, where insurance coverage...

As a stickler for customer service and product quality, it is rare for me to really fall for a company. USAA has always been superb at dealing with my banking issues. For example, they noticed a large charge on my account that seemed out of place so they contacted me, froze my account with my permission, immediately distributed a new card, and returned the stolen money. The whole thing was so smooth and seamless.

Last week, I was on a trip to say some final goodbyes before moving across country when the fuel pump in my car blew. It was so easy to talk to USAA and have the tow sent, etc. They even...

We not only have the USAA Auto insurance we also have the Renters Insurance as well because being in the military we move around so much and honestly, if you have ever had military movers, you understand the need for insurance. Not only that, but if you look at where most Army posts are you will see that they are in tornado, hurrican, tsunami and earthquake land. And just knowing that if we are robbed, there is a fire, or any kind of misfortune with our cars, we are covered is a wonderful feeling.

We live in a state/city with huge car insurance (it jumped over a hundred dollars when we moved here)....

I have been with USAA for many years, using their insurance services.  Recently, I began banking with them.  What I love is that I no longer have to make the special trips to deposit checks.  I can do this right here at home in my pjs, while the kids are sleeping.  And I can go to any convenient ATM to withdraw money, without the service fee.  So whereas before I would hold on to checks so that my trips across town are worthwhile, I now only have to sit down to my computer and push a few buttons.  If I need cash, I can stop at any ATM.  The ATM fees are reimbursed.  There are however, two... review »

I have looked into USAA more than once. They're friendly, knowledgeable, etc; only one problem...They can't beat the company I've been with for 4+ years, just because of our credit score. We continue to pay things off, but haven't "rebuilt" our credit. We pay cash for everything! So no credit/bad credit equals higher rate and less money for them. Sorry

I first got a USAA checking and savings account because my husband was active-duty military. They are pretty much a totally online company. But that meant I wouldn't always have to close accounts at one duty station and move around my money everytime we PCS'd. You must always use another bank's ATM's which for the most part charge you a fee. USAA reimburses you for all ATM fees incurred. You get a rebate for using your check card for non PIN based transactions.

It's good if you get direct deposit. They give you free postage paid envelopes to send in paper checks should you need to deposit them....

We had a home claim for our front porch roof & back patio roof in January 2008.  The USAA rep came right out, was very polite & knowledgable, cut us a check and then left us high & dry to find our own repair person/company.   I made several calls back to our rep and got no response.  The 2 repair people she did refer to us never returned our calls either.  We had to hire a small repair company on our own to fix the problems.

After a long dry spell and then alot of rain, the front porch roof started leaking again.  The back patio roof was still fine...at least for now.

Basically my...

I started with just a credit card with USAA, but before my deployment I opened a checking and Performance Index saving account.  The interest rate was the best that I had ever seen.  They make banking so convenient.  Where else can you make deposit from your computer at home??? Who else send you prepaid envelop to mail your deposit?? Then on top of that there is the rebate and the refunding of ATM fees!!

I also have my mortgage, car loan, and home owner's and car insurances through them.

When I was buying my home, they were very helpful.  Best customer service I had ever received!!  Definitely...

We switched to USAA after being members of GEICO military and Nationwide insurance. I almost couldn't believe the difference. USAA was over 50% less than GEICO (We used to pay 1800.00 every six months with GEICO Military and USAA's quote was 680 something after sigining up with them it went down by 50.00!)

Thier service is unbelievable, We have had two claims since bieng members and both times I had a direct deposit within 3 days (theft cases- waiting on police report otherwise it wouldhave been sooner)

I recently signed my son up for a first start savings account. It was so easy to set up, my...
