USAA is the best banking experience I've ever had. Nearly 100% of my banking is done online, and I'm very happy with that. USAA has excellent online tools, and they're constantly upgrading and trying to improve their services. On the rare instances when I do need to interact with customer service, both their online and telephone services are fantastic - courteous, informative, and, in the case of the online correspondence, exceedingly prompt. I even get answers to questions over the weekend.
My husband is ex-navy, which is how we qualified for USAA services. We have checking, savings, mutual funds, auto and home insurance, and two auto loans from USAA. They have the best rates by far on all of their insurance and loan products, as well as great rates on their savings accounts.
They also have additional incentives for using their products - you can earn money back on your closing costs if you use their real estate people to buy and/or sell your home and you can receive discounts on your auto loans for direct debit from a USAA account.
Their website is very easy to use and very secure. It requires both a username and password to login, plus a PIN to view your account info. In addition, the site also randomly will ask security questions to verify the user identity. The site has recently been updated, so web billpay has become much simpler, and the account access is more convenient and accessible.
I recommend USAA to anyone who has access. That is the biggest downside - USAA is only available to military personnel and their families.
